2 questions regarding the length field - First, why is it not in the File infos? more importantly I have checked the ID3 tag and it's there and I noticed when I load Virtual DJ the length is not shown - how do I keep the time showing(without having to rescan everytime)? Any Suggestions?

It's nice to know the time of the song - helps recognize what version it is - it never shows when I load VDJ

You need to scan for BPM to have the DB updated with the track length. In VDJ, this is not read from the tag therefore you must scan the track for this to appear.

?
I have all the bpm in the ID3 tag so it doesn't make sense scanning for bpm - why wouldn't vdj read the time field? confused. So I have to rescan all of my database? Question is will it save it though? I have a very large database.

VDJ doesn't use the track length or BPM from the tag. It scans and saves that info exclusively in the VDJ database. This does not affect any info already in the tag which will stay as it was.

I have scanned it numerous times but it is not saving the all the info - so clarification what does VDJ use out of the ID3 tag? So hours spent using Tag and rename to make sure my catalog is perfect has been a waste of time? Now if my music is on an external hard drive is the correct database going to the hard drive or saved on that computer?
