Thinking of building my own Mixdeck case. anyone else here did that or bought the real thing?

You'll need a decent mitre saw/block for a start and double check your measurements everytime and you should be good to go building any flight case.
Everything is in the planning, remember to add into your calculations for any foam you are going to use.
Good luck.

If it is just a plain flight case you intend to build just work on the W/D/H of the unit and add the thickness of the foam to the measurement.
If it's just a basic base and lid, build it as a whole unit (box) without the angle first, then cut to required height, makes it a lot simpler and neater that way.

Give me a few minutes and I'll dig out some images of one of the cases I made a few years back, it should gave you an idea what is entailed and the sequence in which to do them.
First you'll need some wood, black paint, rubber hammer, rusty saw and some nails.... lol

Posté Fri 09 Dec 11 @ 8:03 pm
And this is the finished job...

I forgot to show the inside of the lid put it is fitted with padded foam so when the lid is locked it stops the lappy from moving around.
Hope thats helped you.

It's aluminium angle, there's flat, slotted and double slotted edge.

How did you get aluminum from the tree branches, Paul? You are one talented dude....lol

If your making your own case then you don't need anyone else's measurements, the whole point is that you end up with a bespoke case built to your own measurements.
Stock cases from standard measures can be bought quite cheaply.
T, Your case looks better than I remember! those edges either side of your rmx are extremely interesting, how do they attach.

Charlie. my reason for askin measurements is to get it correct. im not looking to have a custom made case. im just thinking it would be cheaper for me. I'm from St. Lucia. they don't sell those here. so after i get it from Amazon or whichever site online with a reasonable price. i have to consider shipping by air or sea and then pay duties to clear from customs.

@ Charlie, so you thought it was crap the first time round... rofl.
It's a strip of 25mm 90 degree angle cut to width & height of RMX, two holes drilled for centre points to attach to RMX on the inner edge.
Then made an inverted 45 degree ^ cut on inner edge, bent to right angle shape in vice which gives it a full running edge along width & depth of RMX.
(Made at a fraction of the cost of buying from RMX.)
Cut base for RMX to sit on, screwed two lengths of 2" x 1" dressed wood to width of base, made two counter sunk holes to take bolt heads from RMX.
Slapped it all over with black paint, screwed a pair of spare kitchen draw runners to it, glued single slot aluminium runner to front, dropped RMX into place and secured with a couple of screws either side.
Jobs a good un'.... lol
If you need image just give me a shout.

Jesus Gee,
I had to google your country lol.
You guys make everything out there don't you :)
Good Luck
PS, what about all the parts your going to need, won't you have to order them? put all the parts together and they'll weigh the same as the entire case lol.
