Sujet USB hubs suggestions?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Running win 7 32b 4gigs with Dnx1600, twin v7s and midi nanopad and VDJ full pro. Has been working well as long as i keep my playlist from external hdd on the laptop. I however am upgrading pc's and will no longer be able to keep playlist locally so use of my external hdd will be necessary. My laptop only has 2 usb ports and am questioning the use of usb hubs. Just wondering how successful and what bugs if any needed to be addressed. Im assuming an external powered hub would be the ideal way to go, which kinds have worked for others in the forum?
Thank for any input..

So what will you be inputting into the new laptop exactly? I'm assuming 2 x v7's (numark?) a nano pad and an external hard drive? Whats the new laptop?

From my experience using a macbook with only 2 usb sockets, external hubs work but they MUST be powered and you should only really put minor things through them.

When doing a karaoke gig in the past, i've used a powered usb hub. I had my sound card plugged into one of the laptop usb sockets and the hub into the other. In this i plugged in my controller and video out card. I had my music stored on an external firewire drive and this worked perfect.

From my experience putting multiple midi controllers through a usb hub doesn't work - i don't know why, but it doesn't.

Let me know if you need any help x

the new laptop (which is now ordered) a dell Alienware m14x i7 quad core running win7 8 gigs 1600mhz ram and 256 ssd hdd. I also do photography w video editing (so underpowered was not an option).
Running VDJ PRO (licensed i might add) a usb DNX1600 mixer, 1 usb v7 (the other plugs into the other v7), a usb wd 1tb exx hdd w all the music and finally the nanopad. so 4 devices and 2 ports. but to use the hub of course 3 of the devices would need to go through the hub.
im going to go with the hdd plugged in to the laptop and the mixer,v7 and nanopad through the hub. even if i avoid the nanopad i still need three ports if i want to use digital functions of v7's through vdj.
i also run a seperate laptop with kuit pro as a analog 4th input into my mixer for samples and movie quotes.

i will definitely try a powered hub for sure, was just looking for a little info on those running that much stuff
thnx

Once you plug the power in, it works well no dropping out with hi-speed data transfer and detection.
