Hi all,
I have an odd situation.
I have a new PC windows 7 64bit which I use for testing vdj and archiving/synchronisation of all my songs and videos.
I have two disk drives - one playout and one back up
For some strange reason I can only see the system volume information on the playout disk, but can see everything on the back up disk.
I have checked file permissions and they are the same for both sets of disks.
I have also rebuilt the database files on both disks and still cannot see the main playout disk drive.
I have also used the chkdsk on the drive with no errors showing.
I was wondering if anyone else had witnessed this issue.
Thanks,
Mark

Fixed:
How strange the Hidden attibutes had been enabled on all folders except the System Volume Information.
That's a new one on me - a brand new pristine system.
confused but happy.

Your play out disk might be gone and drive volume info maybe corrupted. You may have accidentally unplug the drive while it was still writing, always use the "safely remove hardware" icon to power down and disconnect the drive before removing it. Try to re-format and load the songs again or try this and have your luck.
Go to Device Manager > Disk drives > and right click to "DISABLE" the drive that has the problem. If your hard drive is powered try to unplug the power cord attached to the usb drive, wait 30 seconds (just to be safe), then reconnect the the power cord, and wait for a few seconds.Again go to device manager , open the USB controllers , If you find one with a yellow check mark, uninstall it, then rescan for hardware changes Windows should reinstall the USB driver at this point.
Another way of doing that is go to My Computer then Device Manager (while the external HDD is tuned off if your disk drive powered) Turn on the drive (now two things will appear, your drive listed in Disk Drives and the USB drive for your HDD) Now remove the drive for "USB Mass storage" device and reboot your drive and windows will reinstall the driver and it should work fine if not then reformatting is the best solution.
