VDJ is looking for a sound card which I don't have installed becasue I am driving a USB mixer that drives a sound system. I don't see an option for no sound card and an DIRECTX error is being issued. How do I eliminate the error?

Listing the model of your mixer would be important in order for anyone to provide help.
Usually, mixers that include a USB connection will come in different types:
- MIDI controllers only : all the controls of the said mixer can be mapped to control the software interface
- MIDI controllers + audio interface: additionally to the MIDI element, these mixer include an audio interface (or a soundcard if you prefer) which can be configured to get the sound out to the speakers connected to it through the USB.
- Audio interface only: this one is fearly easy to figure out.
I believe you probably have the MIDI controllers + audio interface type, but either way, if you want to get any sound out of VDJ, you will need to assign a soundcard.

VDJ does output to the mixer via USB even without the speaker plugged in. I don't want the error generated and want a no-speaker option or some way to fix the Register to fool it. Which one of those Regedt options will do that?

You'll have to explain things a lot better if anyone's going to help.
I'm having trouble understanding you.
If you've got VDJ sending audio to the mixer via USB then you DO have a soundcard installed - it's in the mixer.
Therefore, it's no good setting VDJ to 'no speaker' ( do you mean 'no soundcard'?) because then you'd get no sound at all, from anywhere.
Also, why are you talking about plugging in a speaker? What speaker, and where are you plugging it in?

So what is the model/maker of the mixer ?
As for the soundcard configuration, VDJ needs to be told where to send the audio. It makes no difference if you have a USB mixer or a PCI soundcard inside your computer, you still need to make that configuration.
Why exactly would you want to go to the registry to "fool it" instead of simply configuring it to make it work ?

The mixers have USB input and the manufacturer changes. The mixer drives the amplifier to remote speakers. I want the PC to provide the music signals thru the USB.
In other words, the system requires the speaker jack to have a load on it even though I don't need that function because the USB for the mixer is functioning. If I disable the audio on the BIOS, I get the same error as when the speaker is connected to the input.

You're still not being very clear....
First you said "a USB mixer" i.e. one mixer. Now you're saying (I think) that you're using more than one.
Well what are they? Are you using them all at once?
If I understand (reading between the lines) you're saying that your computer needs speakers plugged into it, in order to work.
Well yes of course, otherwise you wouldn't hear anything. But earlier you said that you didn't have a sound card!
But.........if you're sending audio out from VDJ to an external mixer over USB then your computer speakers are not relevant.
You need to connect the output of the mixer(s) to either an amp & speakers, or powered speakers.

Sorry about not being clear. We have mixers that fail and have to be replaced. The mixer is not the issue. I don't remember who made them because I am support and am at a differernt location. The mixer has USB input instead of speaker RCA. It feeds a power amplifier feeding the roller rink ceiling speakers.
The PC drives the mixer via VDJ's mixer component via the PC USB connection. VDJ requires a speaker in its' configuration. If I remember right, if the PC speaker is not plugged in, the DIRECTX error is issued. I X (cancel) that out and it still sends music to the mixer. I don't want to have DJ's Xing out PC errors. To avoid it, I have to plug in a dummy speaker I wish not to have to do.
Thank for your support, from one support person to another.

There's no such thing. RCA (a.k.a. phono) connectors are used for line level inputs and outputs, not speakers.

Again, that's nonsense. The output configuration of VDJ routes to whatever soundcard (including USB mixers) you have installed.

But like I said, that shouldn't have anything to do with VDJ if you're sending the output to an external USB mixer.
Any sound setup that the computer has built in would not be used by VDJ once the output is set to the USB mixer.

I found the answer - plug in the cable w/o plugging in the other end.

What cable?
