im a little disappointed with the 7.1 update... and what i think it means for the release of vdj 8
its been a long time since the first previews of vdj 8 were seen and now were faced with:
"from now on, we will release small updates to the 7.x code-base, fixing small bugs, adding new controllers, and porting some of the new features from v8, until v8 is fully ready"
now dont get me wrong, im not saying vdj 8 is overdue and that we all want a release date for it.
im sure 80% or more of us are happy to wait for it to be ready and properly tested for any bugs.
and that it will be worth the extra wait with great new features.
what i am saying is announcing the release of version 7.1, then telling us that we will be getting more vdj 7 updates
is a sign that vdj 8 is much further off than everyone thinks. and looks like a way of pacifying all the impatient members...
adding new controllers should really be done at-least twice a year to keep up to date.
and the cloud list function may be useful for some but not for all users.
instead of using updates like this to stem all the questions of when will vdj 8 be release,
wouldn't it be much better to keep the users and members more in the loop with how the progress is going,
and if there has been any setbacks with development let us know that there will be a longer delay till its compleated.
much more communication from the development team would be a big step forward.
look all over the net and some of the most successful sites and social network accounts are those that are used to
inform customers on product development.
most of us are happy to wait but would really prefer not to do it in the dark :)

But if its broken, i'll put it on bug list notification for dev team.

The assign_controller feature is fixed since it was necessary to properly support the Stanton SCS.1 System deck controller.
Proper use of the action is --
deck # assign_controller '[controllerID]' #
So first identify the deck to control - deck 3
Then action - assign_controller
Then the controller's internal ID in single quotes - 'SCS1D'
Then the controller instance by number - 2 << this is the second controller of 2
deck 3 assign_controller 'SCS1D' 2

I'm guessing this is as a result of the jerky LED movement on the CDJ's in HID mode.

I'm such a noob! Sometimes I dont like messing with certain settings cause I'm afraid I might screw it up more. So I end up overlooking the smallest details. Anyway, I got a little brave and updated the WiFi drivers...and what do you know! So far I have Not had the red spikes anymore. Everything stays in the green now...
Thanks Much!

Thanks for the 7.0.5.1 new version.... Oh sorry, due to the massive features add and improvement it's a 7.1.
After one year of waiting, for me it's just a joke this "update"

Its just the same as 7.0.5,i don´t see any improvement,as long as i still cannot use 48khz sound cards, sound engine and timecode still the same, the fade to black still is on volume sliders, the scratch is still very poor, and you are very aware of that.
so vdj Team is that the way you want to change the dj software game?? and you say " developer team has started to work again on the 7.x code-base, to continue to bring you updates in the meantime". what update? cloudlist?,kkkkkkkkk, sorry guys but this is a real joke for profissionals Djs and Vjs,COME ON guys we need better sound engine, time code, video improvements,we have been asking for a fade to black without affecting the volume sliders for more than 3 years now as you can confirm here : http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/109291/Wishes_and_new_features/deck_s_video_fader.html?search=djnands&page=1 .MixEmergency does, even the poor serato video does as well, and you guys started video very long before all of them :(,you really should SHAME on you guys, sorry to be so honest with you.
As a macbook pro and serato sl4(48khz) card owner,i had to fall back on MixEmergengy from Inklen, is it fair guys??? after buying vdj for this? and you guys know the stronger that this app is at this moment for Djs and Vjs.the three first WMC VJ winners as you can see her: http://vimeo.com/20786997 are using mixemergency, with a very simple video recording way,to show our skills to the world
ok,if its an upgrade for bedroom djs we will understand,Cloudlist is like the sound engine for them :),and the netsearch videobug fixed is like the fade to black and other videos improvements they needed too :D:D:D:D
We already know for more than a year that you guys are working very hard on version 8,the greatest features like Timeline remixing and video samplers,we would understand if you don´t realease these stronger feauters at this time.but You guys are not working fairly on your markting, and not treating well the way you should satisfy your Clients, with this kind of JOKING UPDATE as 7.1 is. As profissionals Djs and Vjs really needs are, sound engine, scratch satbility, video improvements(recording on mac, input source(Cam)......
Peace and Love
Thank you

How about you calm down a bit? That attitude is certainly not going to get you any respect or answers.
Asking for features does not guarantee they will be implemented. Look how long Serato users were asking for FLAC support for example before pointing at them as a paragon of responsiveness.

Just telling you to let you know:
Yesterday I wanted to update my VDJ Pro 7.05b.
Autoupdate is active, but no signal that there was an update. I went to Configuration of VDJ and clicked on the "Check for update" button.
I got a pop-up message that I was already using the latest version (which is not the case, because I used 7.05b).
So I downloaded the v7.1 from the VDJ download center and installed the update.

Same here.
Maybe it's because 7.1 isn't different enough - there aren't enough changes to make it trigger the "new version" code.

I can answer the question about the loop bug - no it was not addressed - I had an 8 beat loop go silent on me at a club gig yesterday. Horrid!!! First time I have ever seen my audience jeer - that was terrible. Virtual DJ claims that it 'must be' a sound card issue since they were unable to replicate it. Well I have news for you - it happens with both my TM4 and with my 4MX on two different laptops so I doubt it is a sound card issue. I guess it is back to 7.02 for me as that apparently doesn't have the loop bug.
VDJ team, I am very surprised you can't replicate it as it means you are not testing your software in realistic conditions, over an 8 hour period with stops and starts and lots of effects/pitch changes. This is why I said release a beta version first as your users will play with it far more than you can and give you good feedback. Sorry about the rant - but still stinging from what happened.
I think this is relevant to this thread because it is warning people that the loop bug has not been fixed, so if you are using a more stable version then DO NOT upgrade.
I just found out that my TM4 will be compatible with Serato DJ (which includes video) from this Winter. So I guess if VDJ 8 is not out by then I may try the switch.
The cloudlist is pretty cool though if they add more content.
