I'm about to upgrade my windows dell laptop to a 15" MacBook Pro and boot camp it with Windows 7. VDJ at the trade shows use Macs with Windows so that should tell you something.

Yes, it tells you that they are able to test and/or run VDJ on both PC and Mac by having dual boot.

If I had a suggestion, I would have made it! :-)
It's difficult to give specific models because:
New ones arrive on a very regular basis, so what's hot today may not be tommorow.
I'm in the UK so models I find here may not be available in the US.
I can suggest though, to buy something as high up the range as you can possibly afford, because (due to regular arrival of new models) it'll be longer before it "drops to the bottom of the pile" so to speak, and so will hold its value better and give you a longer period before you need to upgrade.

You can build you own LapTops? I have no seen such a website yet.. I must look into it.. Also what would you suggest an the most reliable External HD?
