Sujet: ACPI.sys delays my system???

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

i have a smooth working system using sony vaio i3 2,4 ghz, 4gig ram and a pioneer ddj wego. once in 5 days it makes me a problem probably about power.

now i checked using latencyMon that my ACPI.sys is having 1.69 highest execution in ms. so i think this is a problem.all others are under than 0.18ms can i disable it? will i have any problems? i need your help!

Haven't used the latency monitor for a while. Does the spike stay in the green or go yellow/red?

If the spike stays in the green, then I'd just monitor it, but not worry.

If it goes yellow or red then you may need to update your drivers - however, that doesn't always make things better. Make sure you set a restore point so you can revert back if things get worse.

Cheers,

Roy

i dont know, in dpc latency checker though i have some yellow spikes.

what does it do? and is it safe to disable it?

i am having a serius problem with the wego freezing the vdj and the controller while audio still playing normal. that occurs once uppon 4-5 days.

If you Google for acpi battery latency you can find lots of information on the problem.

Also see this thread from 2011

i confirm that ACPI battery can cause spike problems in some systems
you can disable it on the "device manager" of Windows.
but you must be careful because the charge level of the battery will no longer be monitored, if you forget to connect the power cable and the battery runs down the pc will go off without any warning.
also the wireless lan card can cause spike problems

i have my wireless card disabled. also my laptop camera and hdmi audio.

now i am making a backup of my music and vdj lib so i will try disabling that acpi. i heard that it does control some system fans?and i will maybe have problem with heat. is it true? so far my laptop is always cool on the dj laptop stand.

PS: OMG ! i just removed my battery without disabling ACPI.sys. but its no more there, no more latency and the only problem seem to be the cabled ethernet card (ndis). so i will disable that too. i hope that solved my problem. also, is it bad to dj without laptop battery? i mean i had in mind if power on the club goes down my system will still be up for some minutes without any suddenly shut down.

yes if you don't use devices is better to disable them as you are doing.
of course is also a good idea that the pc is always well aired.
before go on without any logic , i suggest to test using dpc latency checker to understand pc now is ready to run applications with low latency audio:

it depends....if you work in a place where the power source is not stable it could be a problem...maybe the pc turn off in the middle of a gig.

i suggest to disable the ACPI instead of remove the battery.
Usualy the circuits in the laptop take care of the battery not the software.
i can't guarantee for your laptop, but in the most of the case that i know is like i've described.
to be sure at 100% contact the manufacturer and ask if disabling ACPI is safe.

You could use a UPS between the wall socket and the laptop, to keep it running if the power goes.

If you get a powerful one, you could also run other items.

i've disabled ACPI and all (wireless and non) network adapters.

its a miracle! dpc latency max 150ms!!! and latencymon highest execution is usb port with 0.2

i hope that solved my problems. we will see soon i think!

i just came home from a 9 hour gig.crazy shit done there!

i forgot to power up the safety power plug and accidentaly i saw that the power led was flicking after an hour and figure it out before it was too late.

about the problem now.

i dont have clear results. as that freeze is happening once a week, i had one before 2 days. and today it froze for 2 secs and then back to normal once. hmm i hope that was just one time and the problem solved, cause if its not that i am out of ideas... my highest exec time is 0.2 and its on usb.

no way its latency. my usb cables are brand new and the only device connected its the wego...my laptop is absolute optimized for audio, no more things to do. i pray to the god of electronics....what else can have gone wrong?

Well, ACPI Battery is one of the things that we suggest to look after. Not something new.

ACPI battery in some laptops can cause latency issues. To check, remove the laptop's battery. If this cures the problem, disable ACPI battery in Windows device manager.

Dont go the easy way (Optimize Tools). Not all all computers have the same issues. Spend some time to optimize your computer by following the guide above

i havent gone the easy way... i've done all the thing needed by reading guides found in here. i've made so many things. on the work bar right down on thw windows there is nothing running... i closed everything.

and the only things running in the back are some system required things to run.

my dpc and my latency mon show me absolute minimum latency after i closed even the wired network card and the ACPI.sys.

the only things now are not optimized is my screen font that its a picture with white and red.

and i have these downsides from the list u gave me:
Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional (or newer) -> i got win 7 home premium
1280x1024 resolution (or higher) -> my laptop has 15inch screen but i use 1024x768 resolution on VDJ.

my buffer size is set to default at 256sample 5.8ms - > i have tryed to decrease him at an older state before i disable network and ACPI and i had freezes on the VDJ at 128 sample (sound continued to play though.) but it was happening twice a night for 2 seconds and then the program responded like normal. so i turn it back to default.

ALSO!!! i got ACPI disabled from device manager and it is still running??? what the ... yesterday seemd to be offline and now its shown again on latency mon. i've tryed renable/disable again but still there...whats wrong? it now gone only when i remove battery... i have also closed vaio power management from system startup services. it seem that even after i remove battery the ACPI.sys still running with 0.13ms. oh god...

also i found another mistake. i was turning off microsoft security essential from the startup services and that continued to show me microsoft antimalware exe shown on hard page faults. i now have it load on startup and i disable it through its own panel by stop the security and the antimalware exe was gone.

PS: finally i forgot to mention i got inter rapid storage installed. and it gives me 0.1ms. can this get me in trouble? i mean safe to have it running on my system? i've read different opinions around the google...

it seems that when charging the battery (even if at 70% power) and the ACPI is disabled on device manager but it is still on high latency like running. when battery went full again and done a system restart the ACPI was on 0.01 ms ....i've trying disabling re-enabling the ACPI many times when battery was charging and the ACPI was still on high ms. i dont know whats wrong and i am confused...
