I don't think there is an official thread, I think there should be a board dedicated to the subject. So you're stuck with the wiki and trying to glean info for various mapping threads

unfortunately at this point in time the wiki is all there is, other than looking at other mappers.
the way the wiki is layed out makes it hard to understand at first, but once you figure out how to handle the data, either MIDI or HID, it becomes really handy as it documents almost everything you need for input/output.
if you have any questions, post on these forums.
there are tons of other other mappers that are willing to help point you in the right direction.

it's probably not going to happen as that's what the hardware forum is for, but I do think it would be better to be a bit more specific and have a dedicated forum. The problem is that someone would need to move all the mapping related threads into a new forum and there is very little chance of that happening. Other than that google is your friend eg. search for site:virtualdj.com whatever you want
