If you want a backup just to play songs while your system is rebooting, why not use an ordinary audio player like winamp or sth.?
That's what I use as "backup". The club PC is always playing a playlist through winamp and if my system is crashing I just pull up another fader on the club mixer...

I've been looking stupid anyway. The optimising tool in addons which I ran was doing nothing! I had to right click on it, and run it as an administrator! Also I needed to disable windows updates by hand. When the program text appears it needs to be read.

I was using a audio2dj, changing to a uac202, and using a splitter for headphones, and master workiks glitch free. I was blaming VDJ for being a resource hog, it maybe Native Instruments.
