Any recommendations on some good VST effects that are compatiable with VDJ8 free or paid

Paid for:
Turnado (more awesome than a monkey in a tuxedo made out of bacon)
Effectrix (sequenced multiFX)

For free:
Loudmax (A must)
TAL Filter 2 (mousey but the best drawn line filter anywhere)
TAL Flanger (TAL rule)
DVS Neon Gate (A pretty clean and effective gate)
Bionic Supa delay (the best single effect VST I've seen)
SupaTrigga (random re-arranging mashupness)
Bouncer (KVR challenge 07 entry, trippy druggy disappearing down the plug hole)

Locodog, where's the point in Loudmax if VirtualDJ 8 already has it's own limiter? What does it improve?

How do you even map VST like Bionic Supa delay?

Loudmax, try it, then ask questions, if you have any.

Bionic supa delay, map it just like any other VST, use a VST host to get the numbers for the dials

This effects works only in windows?

I dunno, I've only got a windows machine, don't macs us Audio Units?

looking for anyone using a dubstep working vst... I need to learn this to mash.

Whats the best setting for LoudMax please.

Thanks in advance

I have it ONINIT on master with the dials at 90% 100% but it's up to you and your ears to figure what works best for you

What is that like -3 and 0 ?

Yeah sumat like that.

Just a follow up to this (despite it being an old post) to confirm that VDJ8 Mac will use VST plugins too, as long as they are Mac versions obviously.

Got any examples??

Everytime I try to install one on my Mac (yes the Mac version) I get the"this plugin is not compatible" message.

If you want to set LoudMax to activate every time at startup, in the controller settings in Virtual DJ8, in the Keyboard mapper,
type ONINIT. Then type the string:

deck 1 effect "loudmax" active & deck 2 effect "loudmax" active & deck 3 effect "loudmax" active & deck 4 effect "loudmax" active

My settings are:
Threash -9db
Output -1db

This works with and without my controller. It's a great tool.

As the "Threash" slides to the left you hear that increase volume. So instead of using the master volume knob to increase volume you move the "Tresh" slider on the loudmax? Is it the same result?

Bad idea it you move it to far you will lose dynamic range and compress your music too much all it will cause listener fatigue

I would set thresh to a few points below average peak and other slider to -0.5

Also I would recommend running it as a master fx instead of on each deck unless you have external mixer setup

How do I get Glitch to work on a Mac???

Heres what Ive done,

Mac
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After opening the ZIP in Finder, you should see the following items:
* Glitch2.component
* Glitch2.vst
* Glitch2_Presets

Copy the "Glitch2.component" file into the following location:
Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components

Copy the "Glitch2.vst" file into the following location:
Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > VST

Copy the entire "Glitch2_Presets" folder to a common location that can be
easily accessed, such as your Documents folder.

Yet nothing shows up in VDJ.

Glitch2 on pc was a none starter, (didn't load presets, only useful for random or on the fly arrangements.
effectrix (more or less the same) however worked ok
