I have the chance of buying an AKAI APC40 MIDI controller very cheaply.
I noticed that VDJ8 include this as supported controllers.
My question is then:
Is every button, slider and knob possible to map to whatever I want in VDJ8? I mean, this could be a nice way to control sampler, fx parameters and much else!

I think I might be going nutty...but I've loaded up some free Casio SA-10 keyboard samples, and have been finger drumming with people like Ed Sheeran. Big buttons (24 upwards), and loads of them may be good . I've been looking at that Akai, and a keyboard might help as well.
I'm planninng to start a sideline at my venues selling earplugs!

Maybe an Akai APC mini would do you good. I have one and its a great little unit.

I think it's good, parents buying quality gear for kids who'll use it twice, Cheap gear around this time of year when the xmas present hasn't turned into little Timmy's expected £2M dj tour

Hello Beatbreaker, yes I'm interested to check this unit. Since I plan to use it for only the sampler the APC mini would be great!

Also it comes with Ableton Live 9 Lite which is just about good enough to warp a song. That makes it a very good deal. Song warping appears easy, though it can be a little time consuming in that you might need to work through a song, bar by bar, if you plan to remix an old favourite .

Yes, you're right. There are probably a lot of such stuff out there :)

Which unit would you choose, the APC40 or the APC mini?

Well for me it was about size and fitting in withy current setup, a set of Denon 5500's or Pioneer CDJ 850's with a Pioneer DJM 850 and my Pioneer DDJ SP1.
The mini had a small enough foot print that it didn't take up much space although I did have to buy another Crane stand for it but it's perfect for my needs.

Yes, and it's USB powered. You don't need to have external powersupplies hanging.
The APC mini looks like enough for my needs really.
How did you set up the unit together with VDJ? Only sampler? Banks / samples, and how do you use the sliders?

It's natively supported to control the samples but since it already has a definition file you could map it to whatever you wanted.

Yes I got it, but I wonder how you're using it?
