That can be two things:
1. Your laptop is also doing something else - so you need to look into what else is running in the background (not just the stuff you can see is open)
2. Your laptop isn't powerful enough to run VDJ8

It's also normal to get higher CPU when loading a track. Also keep in mind that the CPU usage the skin shows includes all applications running at that moment on your computer, not just VDJ, so better check Task manager to see where this high cpu usage comes from.

Let's not forget that the VDJ skin drawing is a resource eater effecting CPU and GPU. Lower end machines see it worse and can effect the CPU badly. It also can effect the GPU negatively on any machine. Why would any one keep drawing the entire skin needlessly? God only knows :) Probably one of the worse things effecting performance on your machines. If you suspect skin drawing might be one of your problems, minimize the skin and see if the CPU drops.

Don, we have read your opinion about skin drawing algorithm several times (Dev Team must have a good reason for that), but this is not the case here, as the user mentioned high cpu at some times and not constantly

Not trying to be a butt, but it is truly a problem and the only reason to do something like that is because you don't know any better.
Look, my only hope is it will get better and if no one knows enough to say something it never will. The display the audience sees is way more important but you can have better efficient more effective skin drawing without the drain that it has now. Just takes more skill but that is the way optimization is... It always takes a lot more time but it is worth it.

Sorry not trying to be unfair but in all fairness :) the way it can burden a computer is unfair. The other reason it might be the way it is because it was quick and dirty and many developers do that as an initial pass but most would not leave it that way. This was mentioned the first couple weeks 8 came out and appears nothing has been done so what else am I supposed to think? I think it is even worse now actually.
I do think that the devs would know better and probably do but have not taken the time with it. Too much is passed off as being some other problem.

maybe it is this way because of custom skinning.
there really is no way to tell where a user will put an element at.
i really don't know just guessing

That would only mean poor planning or bad design for skins but it surely amounts to complexity. But taking the easy way out is generally not a good thing especially in this most obvious case... Just like most would like to see it better when I know it can be and not asking for the world. For most it would be a no brainer not to impact things like this.
