You're playing a song and press a pad and it plays at a cue point and when you let go of the pad it bounces back to where it was originally playing.
I somehow pressed something on the right deck and had it working like that in KEYCUE where I pressed a pad and it changed the key while playing hotcue 1 then it bounced back to the middle of the song and continued playing. In this situation it's the denon MCX8000 but maybe it's a feature in Virtual DJ that I can look up.

slip_mode
There are 2 ways slip works in vdj you have slip [slip on it's own just toggles, also slip on,slip off] that when the engaged will keep the playhead moving forward no matter what you do [like loop, reverse, hotcue, scratch or even pause] and when disengaged the track will jump back to where it would have been without your interruption.
[slipbrake8 uses slip to do it's thing]
slip_mode performs the on an off action automatically, so if in slip mode you press loop 1 leave it for a few seconds and press it again, the actual commands sent are.
slip on & loop 1
loop 0 & slip off
it's a little more complicated than that command wise but essentially that's what it does,
With hotcues it plays the hotcue while pressed.and jumps back when depressed.
I rather like using slip_mode and mashing short loops, I'm not a fan of hotcues and slip_mode, It has merits but it's not for me. I'd rather you could have separate options for the two.
There is a long time bug with slip mode and setting cues, and it's not as easy a fix as I thought for some reason you can't turn slip_mode off and call a hotcue in one command [you can but it doesn't work] so I've set up a script that if the cue doesn't exist and slipmode is on a 2 step repeat_start script is triggered that on first pass queries a doOnce var = 0, if 0 turns slipmode off and sets the var to 1. on the second pass since the var = 1 it sets the hotcue [and sets the doOnce var back to zero], 33ms is enough for this to work and with smart cue you don't hear any difference.

Thanks, that's food for thought. I've got alot of artillery now and just have to figure how I can use all this as time goes by. It's different when I'm out live at a gig and dare to try some of the tricks without anything going wrong.

I've got a couple of buttons missing on my 2 deck default vdj8.2 skin..one is slip.
Anyone know why?
I could select show some empty buttons and assign code.
Is that the answer?

That's the same for everyone, the snap [tiny dot under pitchbend buttons] blinks when slip_mode is on but weirdly there's no way to turn it on or off from the context menu.
I've got buttons on lp2 and s4 and keyboard for this [all blinking, I need to be sure slip_mode is off before calling a hotcue]
plus fruits skin has a gui button
