It seems to work fine with VDJ however there are other problems with the unit relating to freezing in standalone mode and also with Serato. Have a look on the Denon forum as there are several threads on there.

I have had mine for almost two weeks now and I really love the unit.
I have not had any freezes or other instabilities.
I am now testing it and re-mapping some of the functions to suit my needs with VDJ better, but I think I will like this unit a lot.
I have some strange issue with drop-outs occour every time VDJ is started, but it can be simply fixed by pressing 'Apply' in audio settings.
Investigation is ongoing.

I was the first person in the US to have the MCX8000 and had an initial role in the creation of the official VDJ mapper.
I personally love the MCX8000 and it works with VDJ awesomely! (No bias, I swear!)
There _will_ be a new firmware release for the MCX8000 in a few weeks (I was told by an insider at Denon), however no official timeline that I am aware of. (However, I was told it does fix a few 'performance impacting' issues, which I would equate to the freezing, stuttering, etc. issues which are reported on the official forums.
If you like the 8000 however don't need the screens or the USB's, I would heavily suggest the MC7000, which is an awesome controller as well.
(We are all hoping for a MC6000MK3 or an MC6500 which is an awesome form factor.)

Yes, we certainly are.
I still have a brand new MC6000 mk1 sitting in a cupboard as a spare.
My original one bought in December 2010 has had the tact switches replaced several times but now I have non-Denon switches it seems to work better. The paint on the top plate is peeling a bit in a couple of places but apart from that it still works well. Not bad considering it's been used pretty much every week for nearly seven years.

That's awesome! I have 3 6000MK2's, 2 in use, and one brand new in a case. :-)

Thanks for all the input guys I'm small bit sold on the 8000 just looks crazy cool.. but holding off pulling he trigger as I jump to straight away buying Numark v7s and they broke my heart with problems..
But I think I might get the 8000 sooner rather than later
Hopefully there will be no problems

It's mooted that there's a firmware update coming (at some point) to address the screen freezing in standalone mode and issues with Serato. Quite why it's taking so long is anyone's guess but these issues have been reported since it came out.
Personally I would wait for feedback from that update as the issues could possibly be hardware related. In that case it would be better to ride it out just in case.

Yes a lot of people report freezing screens, also in stand alone mode. But also a lot of people report they work perfect.
It's strange.
Mine is working nicely at least.

Hi all, I brought a MCX8000 yesterday and was hoping to get the LEDs on the decks/jog indicator to work the same as they do in stand alone. What am I missing here as I have tried s"Single LED on/off" but nothing??

You mean you want to have single-led indicator instead of full circle ?
