I am using vdj 8.2 and on hooking up a projector or even the tv to the laptop, of course the projected image is identical to that on the laptop. When playing a video clip, what do i do to project just the video clip ? I just can't seem to find the answer anywhere.....

Are you using a Mac or PC??
On either OS you should be able to find an "Extend my desktop" button somewhere.
Just try google.

Probably you have set it to incorrect mode.
Something that is not mentioned in the manual is that you need to have the Projector (TV, secondary monitor) in "Extended" mode and not in "Clone" http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Video%20output%20to%20an%20external%20monitor.html
