I used to purchase tracks straight onto my computer from iTunes which work fine via VirtualDJ.. It was suggested that I pay £9.99 per month to iTunes so I can download tracks on the night. I find I can still play purchased tracks from iTunes via Virtual DJ but not tracks I download, I can only play them via my Ipad. Can anyone advise me how , if possible, I can link them to VDJ.

No, music subscription services outside of VirtualDJ can't be used anywhere else.
VirtualDJ does offer a couple of subscription services itself, and is compatible with Deezer subscriptions as well though:
