Sujet: Pioneer DDJ SR2 or RR with VDJ 8

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I‘m about to buy a new controller. It‘s gonna be my first Pioneer. I‘ve been using Reloop Beatmix 2 with VDJ 7 and VDJ 8 respectively for 6 years.

Now, I‘ll probably buy either DDJ SR2 or RR.

Is there any major difference with regards to using VDJ 8? Would you recommend one of the two for VDJ 8 users?

I use the SR2, and love it. I just got a new one because they could not fix a continuing issue, at no charge. I don't have any experience with the DDJ-RR, so can't speak about it. It does have two extra buttons over the VU meters (extra mapping possibilities). I don't think you could go wrong with either. I don't know why I didn't pick the RR, as Blue is my favorite color, and the color of the controls. Maybe it wasn't supported at the time, but that is not the case now.

I would also tell you to wait for awhile, as they are running sales on the SR2, which usually means that the SR3 is on the way. I waited for the SR2, as it was the last of the S series to get updated.

Okay, thanks for your insights. I‘ll consider them for my decision.

1. RR designed for RecordBox. And, as we all know, Pioneer take care of their "children" (taking into account everything that this implies)...

2. RR has PC MIX (on/off) switch. But since anyone is using VDj, its useless...

3. SR2, in addition to being a newer model, has seperate external source selector switches (for each channel), while RR has a common one (for both channels). In other words, if you wish to connect (as external sources to RR) a CD player (Ch # 1) and a Turntable (Ch # 2) and mix with these 2, you can not, while in SR2 you can...

In conclusion, if you are interested in #3 (directly or indirectly) or if you are interested in something more "fresh", then the choice of SR2 is one way! If not, then RR might be a "better" option (and cheaper)...

;-)
