I have green stars next to the songs on my playlist and they aren't playing. Can anyone help with this please.

Getting error on deck then? Something along "missing file"
Right-click one of these in the browser, and open Tag Editor.
Look at path at bottom where the database expects the file to be. Probably you moved the files..
If so, add the new location(s) to VirtualDJ by "visiting" those folders inside the VirtualDJ browser (or right-click those folder(s) and choose Batch => Add to Search DB)
(in case of just a not connected external drive, you just have to connect that... and thats it :)

Since you said playlist, after adding the new folder locations (where the files really are), VirtualDJ might be able to automatically fix location at your playlists.
If unsuccessfully you can right-click as song and choose "Relocate file" to fine manually
(and if many, perhaps start clean)
