Sujet: how to sustain overview button functions oof external controller?

Ho do you folks sustain an overview over the functions of the buttons, knobs, etc. of your midicontrollers for VDJ / Lightsprogramm?

I'm planning to get an akai mpc mini for usage as sampler / Freestyler controller, and the question for me is now,

How do I maintain an overview over the many buttons of it, so that I hit always the right button?

Are you using stickers, selfmade templates, overlays etc,
What is your approach?

memory, led colour & flicker, and repetition

I was thinking about a few brail sticky pads for a couple of keyboard keys I can't easily locate like F6
