Sujet OPTIONS & TWEAKS Menu Fix - Page: 1
Currently the Options & Tweaks Menu is hard to navigate and disorganized.
We all love the 400 + features Virtual DJ has to offer but not when they are hard to find and adjust.
Simply put this Menu in Alphabetical order with some of the less used tweaks at the bottom.
Below is a the ideal order for this menu.

AUDIO (21)                      AUTOMATION (21)        AUTOMIX (9)
BROWSER (75)               CONTROLS (42)             CONTROLLER (20)
INTERFACE (43)             INTERNET(25)                OPTIONS (24)
PERFORMANCE (21)     RECORD (13)                  SAMPLER (15)
TAGS (11)                        TIMECODE (9)                VIDEO (27)
ALL                                  BROADCAST (15)          KARAOKE (8)

How is the software supposed to know which options are "less used" by each individual DJ?

For example, you have automix at the very top. I never use automix.

You have karaoke at the bottom, yet for karaoke DJs that would be used more often.

You don't like having things in Alphabetical order with the exception of Broadcast and Karaoke at the bottom that only have 15 and 8 settings respectively?

You didn't answer my question...

I'm not asking about alphabetical order.

How often do you need options? Most people set them initially then forget about them.

Posté Fri 09 Feb 24 @ 1:58 pm
The first column has 171 options = listed first and in order.
The second column has 125 options = listed second.
The third column has 103 options = listed last.

The first row has 51 options = listed first.
The second row has 137 options = listed second (Virtual DJ has the best file management system and has 75 settings just for the browser and is listed first.
The third row has 92 options.
Once you work your way down you see much fewer options while still keeping the list organized and in alphabetical order.

If you want Karaoke and Broadcast listed in Alphabetical order that's fine.
The reason why I left them out is because 15 and 8 settings is very few.
Video is listed right above Karaoke.
Clearly the last 3 rows have the least amount of settings hence making them less common.
Everything here is listed in an organized manor.

You need options every time you set up a new device.
It's hard enough to go through the settings when everything is disorganized.
Imagine if your laptop fails and you have to set up a new laptop with VDJ.
Have fun when things are out of order.

Does it really matter ?
You have a search box to search for anything you may want to change.
And alphabetical order in English language is not necessarily alphabetical order in French, or Spanish, or Japanese e.t.c.
Also a category having more settings than other, does not make that category more important.. and vise versa

Finally, there's a reason that settings are grouped together in "categories":
That a flat "alphabetical" list of settings would be much harder to navigate, find the setting (if you don't know it's name) and change it. And probably in order to change two related settings (settings around the same subject) you may had to scroll somewhere on top of the list, and somewhere on the bottom.
The order of each category/icon in the settings window has a logic that the team thinks makes sense.
It doesn't fit every user, YES, but that was not the point either.

VDJ is based in the USA and if they choose to use it as the universal language that's fine.
There is nothing wrong with being organized and putting the most important things first.
I guess DJ's don't really care about organization and making things simple.
The search box is great when you know exactly what you are looking for.
Setting up DJ software should be easy and not an extensive search for settings.

How's that compared against "alphabetical order" ?
I mean alphabetical order is nice for lists, but it doesn't organize anything, nor it brings the most important things first.
If the most important setting was "ZoomMode" (an imaginary setting) it would still be listed on the bottom of the list. Or if the most important setting was "MixerMode' it would be listed somewhere in the middle of the list, defeating the purpose of organizing it and "bringing the most important things first"

There is no grouping that I see.
Everything is just randomly scattered across the screen.
Virtual DJ is marketed as being easy to use yet feature rich for advanced DJ's.

You seem to be over thinking this.

Let me make this simple and clear:

AUDIO (21) AUTOMATION (21) AUTOMIX (9)
BROWSER (75) CONTROLS (42) CONTROLLER (20)
INTERFACE (43) INTERNET(25) OPTIONS (24)
PERFORMANCE (21) RECORD (13) SAMPLER (15)
TAGS (11) TIMECODE (9) VIDEO (27)
ALL BROADCAST (15) KARAOKE (8)

1. Audio - All DJ's need to set up audio first.
2. Automation/Auto-Mix - Additional settings to make DJing easier.
3. Browser/Controls/Controller - Advanced settings and most Pro DJ's use a controller.
4. Interface/Internet/Options - Every DJ needs to choose the look of their interface and set up the many options they want.
5. The second half of this entire menu is important but with far less tweaks to do.

Yes, and I arranged those groups in an organized fashion.

AUDIO (21) AUTOMATION (21) AUTOMIX (9)
BROWSER (75) CONTROLS (42) CONTROLLER (20)
INTERFACE (43) INTERNET(25) OPTIONS (24)
PERFORMANCE (21) RECORD (13) SAMPLER (15)
TAGS (11) TIMECODE (9) VIDEO (27)
ALL BROADCAST (15) KARAOKE (8)

These are all groups.
Zoom and all the other things you are mentioning would fall under the respective "Groups" listed above.

No......you arranged them alphabetically. It was already explained to you why that's not going to work in other languages.

"No......you arranged them alphabetically. It was already explained to you why that's not going to work in other languages."

If it's listed in random order right now then why would it be a problem if it was put in alphabetical order?

Do you really feel that VDJ put it in random order not to upset the non English speakers?

They are in order of importance, most options, and happen to be in alphabetical order.
If that translates to Audio being first but in Chinese Audio is Zudio then I guess you're right
Zadio would be the first setting as Audio tends to be the first setting DJ's set.

As mentioned above Virtual DJ is based out of the USA and English is the Universal language.
Let's not hyper focus on the fact that they happen to be organized and fall into alphabetical order as well.

The first 3 lines of settings are the most common and have the most options.
The secondary 3 lines of settings are the least common and have the least options.

Hasn't everyone who posted in here English speaking?

"I'm not asking about alphabetical order."

Then why do you bring this up now?

Posté Fri 09 Feb 24 @ 4:19 pm
I like it.

Posté Fri 09 Feb 24 @ 4:23 pm
How many of you would be upset if these categories were arranged in the order I listed?
Would this really be harder to navigate?

It would no longer be random.
