As the title suggests. During a DJ set, a song may unexpectedly experience a significant pitch shift or bend.

I don't think VirtualDJ does any auto pitch bending/pitch adjustment by default. It sounds like you have one of the auto sync options on.
Read the Deck Options subsection of the Basic Deck Controls section of the User Manual and ensure that all of the "Auto Sync" options are off for all decks.
