When using timecode config what channels do the samples come out of ? Both I hope...

You can choose that in advanced sound configuration

I have a maya44 - Only two stereo outs... :( was hoping the samples would come out of both of those as well.

Suppose I could use the laptops built in sound out for samples though.

Samples should work fine with Maya 44 - They do in my setup - Maya 44 + DAC-3 + TCV

They will play over the same channel(s) as the music if you do not have a separate output for them.

If you have sufficient output channels you can configure a separate output in the advanced soundcard config. The timecoded vinyls also has options in the output settings to choose a separate channel for sample output (If your ASIO sound card has 3 stereo outputs.)
