I have recently purchased a Hercules controller that works fine, except it wasn't the one exactly as pictured. The one I wanted or need, the one with all the input and outputs(mine only has a USB connection). My friend told me that the one that i want has a lot of technical issues. Is this true, before I upgrade or not? I may sell the other one if not.

what you want is the MK2 model, and I have no issues with mine... :)
The only thing that might be said bad about it (apart from size), is a bit slow asio drivers.
This only matters if you scratch damn fast (or slow) with timecode connected.
The mk2 model is FAR better than the other Hercules models (that are unresponsive etc)
MK2 has better jogs, and very good responsiveness on buttons

I don't have the unit in front of me. Is the MK2 the one with or without the RCA inputs?
