My sound set-up has a noticable hum when music is not playing.
It's only a problem when the room is quiet during toasts etc...
I believe it has to do with mk2 sound card?
Any ideas?

Hi a had the same problem, on a Hp Laptop AND on a Toshiba too.
try to unplug your laptop power supply and see if the humm,. is going away when using the laptop battery.
If so,, like me,,it's probaly your laptop power supply the problem.
Me, a just had to cut the ground pin , and the problem is gone!
Gimme news if it is good!

There is yet one more thing that you can try to fix that problem. I had a similar problem and I ended up buying a plug from Home Depot to fix it. If you computer has a three prong plug, you need to buy a little grey plug that has two prongs from Home Depot. Whe you plug the computer into the grey convertor and plug the convertor into the wall or SURGE PROTECTOR (Highly recomended) it will eliminate what sounds like a GROUNDING problem. The little grey things from home deopt are about 3-5 dollars.
Try that and see if it works. Let me know what happens, because I am curious if I was right.

P.S. I wouldn't suggest cutting the grounding pin off of your plug because I would be afraid of future electrical problems.

simple fix , turn up the volume on ur amp or speakers
and the sound goes away
its simply the noise of electicity in the sound card being amplified

I just want to tell of my frinds out there doing and using same or semilar equipment, if you have any HUMMING,CRACKING OR ANY OTHER NOISE FROM your speakers you should ck all your grounds,Mixer, and wall plugs and to eliminated them just insolate the ground plug of your lap top
to the wall your noise will be eliminated 100%,also if you are using the latest version be sure in your setting for performs make it to be on RELAXED mode other ways you will have scratching problems like turning or pausing manually your right or left turn table and making the other to pause the music for a few seconds them can hear --cracking noise or distorsion on the voices..I hope I was able to help someone with same problems .........DJ L-CUE.....since 1983....MY REGARDS....

Hi all,
I did want to get back to you all on the hummm.
It's gone! The ground-lift adapter (three prong-two prong) took care of it!
Thanks!!
