Yes, focus on what's important. Not just the specs, but just as importantly, the OS.
If it's windows, it's gonna have ALL the windows problems that everyone knows exists regardless of the hardware.
Get rid of windows and you'll get rid of windows' problems.
Get a Mac.

im just about to complete my courses in computer design , repair upgrades ect , hardware and networking
A+ N+ S+
ect
on these courses we where told that a pc can be just as effective as a mac if used properly
alot of windows problems are and i say this in the nicest possible way caused by user error if you download every program on the internet ;) and try
its all about the person who uses it :)
at the end of the day if a persons determined to break in the os matters little in the end
i am aware of a problem with wifi cards in mac laptops which could let hackers get into the laptop in 5minutes
i like both and i will one day get a mac to run Reason for mac in my studio when i get some more repairs ect
its not reali a big case of mac vs windows
pick the one that you think suits you the most
and you will get the most out of in the long run

I had an Acer TravelMate - if it breaks down, you will need to send it to somewhere in Northern Ireland! And it's away for at least three weeks. Mine crashed about a month ago - when I found out it had to go there, I traded it in for a Medion - with the Seagate hard drive I had originally got for the Acer, it has so far given me no problems - other than the fact I had to put all the music files back in. I was going to transfer the files to the Seagate from the Acer - but the Acer crashed before I received the Seagate, so I couldn't do it.
The Acer has a D-drive - devote that one to your music fliles. I did - but it soon got full. I have bought some new CDs since - put them on the Seagate - even with my existing CDs, it's used hardly any memory.

I have an Acer Travelmate 8100 (the one before the latest, 8200 & 8210), with a Hercules MKII. It works perfect for me. I play live every weekend, never had any problem. I Don' t use video on live situations yet, but I did try it at home and it worked fine. I am perfectly satisfied. I must confess though that, from a pure design point of view, I like macs more. MacBooks Pro are really cool, and for the audience, a laptop with a mac logo is cooler and seems more pro than one with an acer logo, for whatever that is worth.... However, no VDJ for mac yet, I would need another Hercules, and I am a fairly advanced PC user, so I don't have more problems with PCs than with Macs, so I am perfectly happy with my Acer... Hope this helps
