Sujet mixing an acappella hip hop/rap over a house beat?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hello,

Any suggestions to get me started in the right direction for mixing a 90 or so PBM acappella hip hop track over a 128 BPM house track. Started to practice that but finding it quite difficult to get it synced properly and matched well.

Just some pointers to get me straight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rich

Hi Rich, i don'T know when you posted your message but I will answer it.

Here is how to do it (my method)

NOTE:Don't do it live!!!You will look like a jerk..

i took Get bysu - sean paul and last night a dj saved my life- - Seamus Haji (intro beat only for the house beatmatching.

Last night song: 128 Bpm
Get Busy accapela set to 191.8

How did i found the right bpm for the accapela song? Count it yourself and ride the pitch. VDJ is not meant to count beats on accapela song so it's not accurate from the start, that's why some songs won'T work unless you use a different program. Now play your house song and loop a 1 bar. Then start your accapela song on the first beat of your first bar. and ride your pitch. When you find it's pretty on beat stop your accapela and do it with your settings but record it. listen to it, let people listen to it and you'll get it right with time!

I tend to use the same method - just run a 4 beat loop of a known bpm, and manually adjust the acapella to match it. Once you've got it right, you can open the bpm window, and use the "copy from other deck" feature to add the correct bpm to the acapella, using the known bpm value from your drum loop. Set up a cue point and get the grid aligned, and you've got an acapella that you CAN use live in a mix, and everyone will think you're dead clever.... ;-)

Hey, anatha way if you cought up while mixing live would be to wait for the 4 beat touch and chop it right away, it saves you alot of matching, and hussle if you have a full house!!!!! remember they are pissed.... not professional but will get you out of the rouble if you know what i mean later.
