I would say..
for every day that i work on it it will cost you $10.

Posté Fri 23 Nov 07 @ 1:07 pm
why would i spend over 10 hours if i need to pay for it?

but... 10 hours x $40 per hour = $ 400 is good enough.

else you can download a different skin or have someone else do it.

its not easy homie,

i need to move lots of elements around

and the pannels too.

going from 1024 to 1200 is easy: you just stretch the bitmap and add stuff

going from 1200 to 1024 is difficult because you need to modify the bitmap, and then the xml to fit the bitmap.

you can see what i've done with mixstaiton at my website: i call it overflow ex. its 1440*900 and it's bad azz. completely enhanced for use with the lements i use most, rhythm, and library stretched out to the max.

From a support standpoint, we would prefer that all skins are submitted and approved for this software.
There are proper channels for this.

If you want a custom skin, see DJ Format or DJ Mykel in the skin forum.

@mp3jrick

this is personal business.

if he wishes to share his skin, that's his choice. i'm simply an employee getting paid to do a job.

ahh sounds like a bit too much work i guess..
i thought it might of been simple but still too hard for my idiot brain lol
thanks anyway dude

i can design a skin from scratch

but it takes time and time is money.

the ones complete are availiable at my site 2dl 4 free.

but... if i need to work on something with a deadline and specific requirements then it is work.

and if work it is then money it is.

pay $400 for the skin, charge $800 for the party, and your $400 on top.

yeah but its just resizing it.... ahhh we arnt talking about starting from the begining...

thanks anyways guys

well the components will be stripped from the skin you like.

the whole idea is taking a skin built the way you like, enhance the graphics, squeeze the buttons together to make more room, then add new stuff.

have you seen the rhythm pannel in my OverFlow Ex?? you won't find anything like it in any skin out there.

the thing is 1440*900

these channels can be difficult to get through.

i've created a skin: library 1024*800, built with all the buttons used for library. 1 intention: be able to manage the library better.

submitted the skin, but it never got through.

these so called channels are more like filters... filtering out skins.. so i've added the skin to my site, and got plenty of traffic for it.
believe it or not,

economics 101: high demand + low production = price increase

the demand/need is there

BUT I believe using skins which alter code and not being approved by Dev Staff possibly breaks the EULA you agreed to when you purchased VDJ. If it is personal why not keep it personal IE. PM???

Posté Sat 24 Nov 07 @ 11:23 pm
eula...

please explain.. now i'm intrigued.

I will have an official word on this tomorrow.
If the boss says it flies, fine.

Unfortunately the "channels" can get pretty clogged up.
Sorry if you had a hard time.

The word is this:

We definitely don't give any official support, approbation or whatever.
We cannot give the ok to what you are doing, since it's obviously illegal and modifies the intellectual property of the original author.
Charging to modify other people's work is definitely wrong particularly if that person never made one cent for creating it to begin with.

If someone has contacted you to do this and is willing to pay, there's not a lot we can do about it.
We cannot let you advertise such an illegal thing on the website and really don't want to moderate things on you or anybody for that matter.
So we ask that you respect the company's feelings on this.
