I am really praying this is not a stupid question. I know it has been answered before because...well it has had to have been. Whoa...ok anyway
The bassline sample is the shizznizzle but I want to make a few more...or have one of you really really kick ass people that has some share them.
So... how do we do it?

One way that I have found to be effective for me is the following
after you have found a part of the song that u would like to use as a sample use a music editing program like Vegas or adobe audition
to extract the part that u like. Save it as a wave or an mp3, next use a free program called SWITCH to convert mp3/wave to ogg (you can find it if google it)
Save the ogg file in your sample folder and you are ready to use it as a sample!!!
Hope this helps

Why not just record the sample from within VDJ? Set up a loop in the song you want to sample, and hit the loop button on one of the sample pads. Simple...

To Save a Loop to the Sampler ??? Instructions can be found in the manual I believe....
ahh page 46... nope 47...
"VirtualDJ can easily record samples which are then instantly ready to play.
To record a linear (one shot) sample, click the “Jingle” button on the bottom of the sample cell to begin recording. Click on “Jingle” once again to stop recording. The sample is recorded from the deck that is currently in use (the Active Deck).
To record a circular (looping) sample, use the deck’s loop control to set the loop then click the “Loop” button on the bottom of the sample cell. The loop is automatically recorded to that sample cell and ready for immediate use.
If the “Loop” button is clicked without defining a loop using the deck controls, a 4 beat loop is automatically recorded.
-- CAUTION --
Recorded samples are not saved for use in subsequent sessions. To save the sample, use the “Sample Options” menu and select the “Save…” option."
And all of that can be done from the skin, - From the sampler list choose the sample bank you want to record to - like bank 6. Play your track. If you hold down the REC button it will record a linear sample for the duration that you hold the REC button. If you set a LOOP then you hit the REC button 1 time and it captures that LOOP. ** You still have to go to the SAMPLER to SAVE the recorded samples for future use.

And doing that cstoll will make it match the bpm that I am at just like the others in future sessions?
DAMN!
VDJ keeps on blowing my mind big time.
Now if we can change effects with text on the screen it will be complete! lol

If you are talking about having the samples beatmatch, that is an option that can be set on each sample bank.

??? Not sure what you are trying to ask...

We just bought the SVM1000 from Pioneer and it has effects for the text you want to put on the screen. I was laughing the other day because everything that Matt did I did faster and better other than the text thing.
Tayla however made some pretty cool things with an outside program that look 50 times better than what the SVM will do.

there are obvious limitations if record the sample within vdj such as:
1 limit on the length of the sample it allows you to record
2 when you play it play back the sample wont be on beat with the music playing on the active deck
3 volume limit (especially a problem when you dont have a 3 output soundcard)

How long can you hold the REC button down ?

If you activate the BeatLock and play the sample on the active deck from the skin mini-sampler player.

That is one that internal can give people issues. Typically I have found them (internally recorded) not to be too bad.
Oh, think I forgot to mention you can Load a MP3 as a sample in the Sampler using the Load... menu option.

I create samples with another piece of software, save as an mp3, can play back on one of the decks or in the sample/loop player. can beatmatch either way, control volume either way. I'm still using 3.4 console edition that came with my MK2, but it does all I want right now. If I can do it, you can too.
Now go get em!

Correct me if I´m wrong but if you activate "beatlock" on the sample bank let´s say for sample1 and then you activate the sample, it is beatlocked on the cbg dots of the active deck. As these are not always correct and i even don´t need them as I use TCV and beatmatch by ear it would be nice if the sample you activate would sync on beat. Or if this is technically not possible it would be great if you could pitch/beatmatch the sample so you can manually beatmatch the sample by yourself.

Don't suppose someone has a video of using the sampler to create mash ups using beatlock loops or can make one. This is a feature that I would love to see as I have torq as well and it can do it but Im more comfortable with the VDJ interface right now. I tried doing it myself on VDJ but it does not seem to sync so maybe im doing it wrong?

To make a beatlocked loop you need to make sure that the bpm is set up correctly on the track that you're sampling, and the grid is also aligned. If it is, create a loop in the deck player, then hit the loop button on a sample pad. This sample should then beatlock to whatever you're playing, again, as long as the track you're playing the sample alongside is also correctly bpm'd.
I tend to use the sampler quite a lot with beatlocked acapella loops and drum rhythms - not quite a live mashup I guess, but it adds a little something to the mix...
