So I started spinning at a club right, been avoiding it for a while but f'it need the cash right now...
So bring in my own equipment...
PC Laptop, two Numark CDXs, Maya 44 soundcard, my old school Gemini mixer, DAC 3 controller, and just in my hands Pioneer Efx....
So this young whipper snappers with their Mac Book pro and SSL are laughing and shit right...
I was like now its on f'kers...
Got my mixes going... wish I had a 2x4 set up at home but I dont.... what I do have is my two laptops, one I spin on the other I run Soundforge recording my private sets at home...
So at the club I run MY OWN, pre made mixes, breaks, and some scratches and on the fly mixes and scratches... I use my own recorded samples in VDJ.... the Dac 3 for quick one button efx and my pioneer efx'er for when I jump on the mic and sh@t...
Bottom line is, give me a home amp, tape player, and one turntable and I will rock the crowd...
These new booties cant even connect XLR cables into their SSL's and are pre-madonna djs....
Its all about the music and RAWKIN the crowd in my book... No mater what I am using...
I remember when I used to be called a wierdo cause of stuff I would do back in the day...
Sample pad? Hell no, try a tape recorder and sirens from the LAPD fire department and Police... Shit I even had a sample with the ghetto bird overhead saying, All citizens please stay in doors...

Ghetto bird... now that's something I haven't heard in awhile. Nice! I'm tired of the SSL haters, too. F 'em. Like you said, it's all about the music. Since VDJ is more capable than SSL, I'm not quite sure where that sh*t comes from. I guess they like spending $200 more than us. It makes them feel better hating on us cuz they spend more. I'm waiting to come across an SSL user that has video. I think that setup runs almost $2000. It will be great to show 'em I can do the same stuff with that $300 price tag.

yeah SSL can do video, but if your gonna spend that kinda money for video you might as well get dvj's. The only thing that may have vdj whooped is if serato can use your mixer to fade videos (your crossfader with a rane mixer) if they can do that then that's cool.. as vdj you need keyboard shortcuts to transition from table to table .

Hmm... I'm not sure what your setup is baalpeteor, but when I use the RMX to mix video, I can link the crossfader and mix video that way. I would guess it's the same with all controllers and MIDI mixers. Also, the volume sliders control the brightness of the video if you select that option. Depending on your mixing style, this is a viable option.
