Veteransradio.ca does not charge for the services we offer. We do however is ask for a donation from our clients at these shows and will have a donation collection box at our station/table for those attending who wish to donate. Corporate DJ/Entertainment companies can charge from $200+ / hour which allows us to save you a lot of money. We offer DJ'ng, Trivia Parties and Karaoke. Drop me a note at cyrenne@veteransradio.ca and we'll sort out the specifics of how to best serve your needs.
Veteransradio.ca is not an official charity. It started as a part time hobby. Folks started tipping me at the shows. From this point on I started collecting donations that I could send back out to the community and organizations.
All costs for the shows are paid for by Don Cyrenne. This allows for every dollar donated to be sent out to organizations that support Veterans, Active Members, First Responders etc. In the past, donations have been sent out to Guitars for Vets, Canadian Veteran Freedom Riders - Meaford, Food for Vets - Calgary, Vancouver Island K9's, Serious Coffee cards handed out to First Responders in the area and more.
Don Cyrenne aka JimmyCorps served 10 years in the Signals Corps of Canada. In 1987 he enlisted with 748 Comms in Nanaimo. A year and a half later, he transferred to regular force ending up in Calgary after basic training in Cornwallis and Radio School in Kingston.
While posted to CFB Calgary, he got his first taste of providing DJ entertainment spinning music at the Currie Barracks Junior Ranks Club.
Since leaving the Armed Forces in '97 he worked briefly as a corporate DJ. It was 2008 when CanuckGamer.ca was created. He produced the CanuckGamer.ca podcast and co-hosted with Joe "AdmiralBull" Turbyfill from Raleigh NC until 2012.
VeteransRadio.ca streaming online radio station has been broadcasting since 2010. The stream runs 24/7/365 with a number of programmed genre spots each day. A number of new online shows are being reviewed for possible addition to the VeteransRadio.ca broadcasting lineup. As of August 2016 we are now mobile. We have the option of broadcasting from the cave at home as well as any indoor / outdoor venue.
In 2019 there were 2 online stations streaming. The original Rock 'n Roll station and the new Rockin' Country station.
In 2021 stations number 3 (Canuck Radio - Canadian content only) and 4 Rockin' Blues station were added. If you're a music artist or group feel free to contact us and we can look at seeing if your songs could be played on any of our stations. There's no charge for addition to our playlists.
Being a Veteran himself, Don recognizes the difficulties Veterans can run into trying to re-intigrate to civillian life as well as the hoops necessary to jump thru when dealing with Veterans Affairs Canada.
The VeteransRadio.ca website also serves as an online community for vets, active members, first responders, corrections officers etc... to meet and help each other thru the battles they share.
