As I said earlier the current public Spotify API only delivers the audio at a fixed limited rate (max 1.5x playback speed if memory serves). There is nothing we can do about it at this time.

So, you mean djay pro is paying for a special treathment, because djay pro loads very fast...

Surely someone would have noticed this speed issue during internal testing?

What does that have to do with load times??
I guess it doesn't matter though because it's not on VDJ's end.
Hopefully it speeds up because a lot of these kids depend on these streaming services as a main sorce for they're libraries anymore which crazy but true.

Yep, completely agree. Personally i think it should only work for home users. For practice. Shouldn't even be available for Pro users. If you really are a pro, and you have a wifi connection at your gig to use this, then download the song if you do not already have it. Same goes for CU. Its like going to the cinema and finding they are streaming from netflix.

Personally I don't see the issue between streaming a song or downloading it.
The music on Spotify is good quality and not like ripping something off Youtube or a dodgy Russian site.
There are always those who take the moral high ground and others who will try to use technology for the best benefit. Anyway, even if Spotify didn't work in VDJ it is entirely possible to feed it from your inbuilt sound card back through a spare channel in your controller.
I agree a DJ should have core music available on their laptop, but even after 32 years of me working every week there is the "odd" song that Spotify is handy for. Whether or not there is a VDJ interface is irrelevant and in the real world you are hardly going to get arrested for playing the odd song in public using Spotify, and more to the point no-one would notice anyway.

^^^^ This. Summed up perfectly.
I for one very much appreciate the Spotify integration, slow as it may be. For the occasional song the load speed isn't an issue, as I don't comply with "play it now/next" requests. If I need it faster, I'll use my phone and aux input.
I also love the fact I can Shazam something on my phone and have it save to a Spotify playlist which is then visible in my VDJ software.
The only limit to our creativity with the music we have access to now from one single piece of software is our imagination. A bit like when grooveshark was alive.
Again, great job guys and thank you.

Anyone else getting incorrect results from "Lookup empty year and genre from discogs in tag editor using option button"
Just a few I found so far. Mostly it is the genre.
Example: Joe Cocker- High Times We Went shows as Blues
Beatles - Back In The USSR shows as Blues
Roy Orbison - Cryin shows as Reggae
Kool & The Gang - Get Down On It shows Jazz

I have used discogs manually to search for release years etc for hundreds of songs. You have to apply some knowledge to what it shows you, its not always correct, because it may show you the re-release year, different version etc. Its not foolproof. For instance most northern soul records were released in the US in the 60's but then when they became popular in the UK they were re-released in the 70's. Gloria Jones - Tainted Love from recollection was released in 65 in the US, but re-released in the UK in 77

It would seem worthwhile to find out how djay Pro are doing what they do with Spotify. With djay Pro and Spotify tracks load in seconds, I can jump to any spot in the track and it plays immediately. Something is different, there is no 1.5 x playback speed limitation with djay Pro and my Spotify account. These are not cached files, I can do a search for a track I've never played on my iPhone7 and it loads up in seconds.
Is a shame to have sexy buttons that don't perform in a sexy manner.

Just enabled early access to have a play with this discogs thing. You really can't rely on it at all. Done a few and all wrong. For Instance....Nat King Cole - When I Fall In Love - it came up with Year:1972 and Genre:Vocal. Should Be Year:1956 and Genre:Jazz (genre open for debate)
The whole thing is a great idea, I mean a brilliant Idea. But it needs to work. If i google the song, and even if i spell it a little wrong, make a mistake. Google will still know exactly what song I am on about and give me the information (most of the time). Why can VDJ not take the info from Freedb or partner with some other music metadata company so the info is right?

What is happening to the automix playlist? Have some music playing in the background with automix and every time I go back and check VirtualDj the playlist above the playing track is deleted... Is this just me or is something happening? And when we create filter folders, they now are created in Filters in the bottom of the left browser window. Bug?

In that case the Spotify plugin isn't really any use as the loading is just too slow. As I said before there's no chance of the track being fully loaded and analyzed because the previous track would be finished first.

I think it remembers your cue points and bpm and so on, so yo only need to analyze and set cue points the first time you load a song
That being said I think it's most useful in 4 and 6 deck mode where you can be sure that a track is fully downloaded, analyzed and ready to use before mixing into it, without blocking a regular 2 deck flow

We are fully aware of the implementation in djay, but at this time there is nothing we can do at our end to improve ours :)
