I want to just dj house parties so what kind of external soundcard would you guys recomend for that? How much should i expect to spend?

If you buy the Hercules mk II you get an ok soundcard and controller in one package. This is what I would recomend for you.
And hey, if you buy the controller you get a lite version of VDJ as well ;)

other choices are Hercules RMX, Vestax VCI (controllers and soundcard)
Or just soundcard, such as Maya 44, U46DJ, and several others ...

I agree with everyone else. Get a controller that doubles as a soundcard. Kill two birds with one stone. Plus if you already have any DJ experience at all, you are really going to appreciate having a controller and the way it feels in comparison to using your mouse and keyboard.
