Hi folks,
Noob here. Running the trial version. I know I have bad hearing on the really high pitches, but I know the treble EQ isn't working when I kill the bass and mid there's no sound. Anyone know how to fix this one?
Thanks

This is a recording with mid and low EQ knobs down to ,
leaving a spectrum from 3kHz @ -50dbFS on.

If you can hear this, than explain which trial version are you using,
what kind of files (quality/coding), or if you are using a plug-in for
equalization, so a problem can be identified.

If you can't hear this, I'm afraid your hearing has been severely damaged.

I played the file in Winamp, and could hear it, just barely though. I played it in Virtual DJ, then killed mid and bass, and could not hear it even more. When I upped the gain I could hear it better but it looks like the fault is with VDJ; it looks like it's killing the frequencies incorrectly.
Here's a recording of me killing the mid and bass without raising the gain. Let me know what you hear.
Thanks.

When you add the same filter over a filtered file you will naturally
have a steeper slope of filtering, so the amplitude of mid freq.
in this case will be lost faster, as seen clearly in this FFT graph:

If previous filter was 10 dB/octave, it's now 20 dB/octave, meaning
a frequency at 5kHz (for example) is now 10 dB lower in level,
that is HALF 'loudness' in psychoacoustic mesurement.

So there is nothing wrong with your version of software.

Just to make another test if you wish, you can upload a short
sample of any of your files, original (a few seconds) and the same
recorded and filtered with VDJ.

And please specify the file data (bitrate, sample rate) and the
soundcard you are using.

Ps.: If you are accustomed to hardware mixers, they usually have
slightly different center frequencies on EQ than Virtual DJ software,
so you might experience it as faulty.

This file is at 320kbps bit rate and 44.1KHz stereo
In this file, I let the music play for with no modifications to the EQ until 30 sec I killed the bass. Then at 45 sec, I killed the mid+bass. At 1:00, I killed the treble+bass. At about 1:13, I killed the mid+high. And at 1:24, back to normal.
Is there a way to adjust the mid to treble frequency range? I am definitely more accustomed to real mixers.
Thanks

The link is 'currently unavailable'.

Anyway, there is no way to adjust the internal EQ frequency bands
or their center frequencies, even though it has been suggested as
a feature:

http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/88208/Wishes_and_new_features/EQ_on_VDJ.html
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/84443/Wishes_and_new_features/Better_Equalizer.html

At the moment you can avoid this problem just by using an actual
hardware mixer and adjusting the EQ there, or use one of the
plug-ins that ara available in sound effects section for licenced users:

http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/517/16-band_Equaliser.html

http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/542/32-Band_Equaliser.html

or a filter that comes already with the demo version i think:
