Sujet: Torq 1.5 Update

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Well as you guys may not know I’m also a registered Torq user. I’ve been playing with the 1.5 update for hours to test the new features, of course I’m kind of limited because I’m an external user “TCV” which in fact locks you out of a lot of really cool features on the program that can be use with a controller like the Xponent. But with that out of hands I have to say that if your not a type of dj/producer, you know what I mean, a dj who uses Ableton, Reason or other software in rewire with Torq to play live remixes adding loops or effects on the background in sync, other than that I have to say that VDJ is a more advance program, (on external mode, make this clear)

For example is incredible the way I can use VDj with external control in conjunction with my DAC-3, I can toggle on or off the TCV with no problem, I can even use one TCV on one deck and the DAC3 for the other deck, I can even toggle to line in with my DAC3 to play real vinyl’s, and go back to control with the DAC3 or TCV, one side is completely independent of the other side, very cool

This is one example I posted on Torq Forum.

[Start]

If you are using Absolute mode and your needle gets dirty in the middle of a gig and you press the external control button to toggle off you vinyl, then clean the needle and drop it back again on the vinyl, press the external control to toggle on your vinyl; you are not going to like the results, unless you drop it on the exact location you pull it off. My remedy is I toggle to relative mode, then press the external control off, clean the needle drop it again on the vinyl and toggle on the external control, don't press for Absolute mode again until that song is finish or you’re not going to like the results, especially if you are in a live gig.

This doesn’t happen on Virtualdj, not trying to say that one is better than the other one, is just an example so M-Audio can compare and make notes. Virtualdj uses tree modes: Absolute, Relative and Smart. With smart you can do needle drops, use loops, go to cues, etc, etc, but to compare to the example mention before with Torq on VDJ you can toggle external control off (using smart mode not absolute mode), lift the needle, clean it ( if you must) drop it, it doesn’t matter where on the vinyl, toggle on external control with no problem, your song is not going to jump to another location or to the end of the song, even after that you can do needle drops with no problem. I would like see this feature in Torq (yes I know, the wish list). I see this more of an Issue than a Trick or Tip.

[Finish]

Every program has its good and bad. For example I like much much more the way Torq16 cell sampler works against the 12 cell sampler of VDJ. There is lots of comparison I can make between this programs, in a positive and optimistic point of view, but that’s going to take me a hell of a time. So what do I do? I use them both and take advantage of the best features each one of them has.

Serato? I know nothing about those guys, to expensive tho. I know there are other DVS like tracktor, decadance, MS Pinky, etc, etc, I don't have them and I can't read or research about them all, I have a life you know!

Please Comment I've like to know about you opinion.
