it has several "profiles" for e.g. a mixer, where you have upfaders and crossfader, a turntable where you can pitchbend and scratch, and so much more functions. you can use several units together by clicking them together, so you could have one for mixer, one for turntable, one for effects, one for samples, one for making your taxes, one for booking your gigs.... you get the idea :)

the scd-3d is allready available in germany, since the summer i think. Also the scd-1d is announced and advertised since last winter. just like the vci300 and the ns7. and i guess we wont get a ns7-namm news thread, or will we?

It would be a good controller for any software :)
It will also be the first hands on experience for stateside users so if you can make it to the show enjoy!

I have had this since October... Im not real crazy about it though... It would be a great handy little controller if they didnt make the pich relative and not absolute.... It doesnt even act like a real pitch control!
