I am having a problem with VDJ. I just downloaded the trail version to check out this software. But when I click and drag an itunes song and cue it up I am getting an error message and the song won't play. What am I doing wrong?

iTunes songs are most always DRM protected, and can ONLY be played in Apple hardware or iTunes software, sorry.
Apple is though, releasing more and more DRM free songs at itunes, but it will take time
Until then, buy music from someone else...
Or google for something that can help you remove the DRM ;) but thats not entirely legel.. depending on where you are in the World.
In some countries in the World, iTunes is actually illegal for its DRM things (Norway, France etc), but legislations still waiting, and seems Apple is removing the DRM sooner or later, or allow it to be played out side iTunes

Who can I buy music from then if I want to use VDJ?

Anyone, BUT itunes..
(edit: or Upgrade to iTunes Plus .. those are NON DRM)
Almost all others either have no DRM, or have DRM to the file (so that it can be used in any program on YOUR pc).
Its only iTunes that have it differently (limited to Apple hardware/software).
Some great music stores:
http://www.rhapsody.com/home.html - any music
http://free.napster.com/ - any music and now legal
http://www.amazon.com/MP3-Music-Download/b?ie=UTF8&node=163856011 - any music
http://music.msn.com/ - Any music
http://www.7digital.com/stores/default.aspx?shop=1016 / Emi based, any music
Both Microsoft, MTV and Yahoo have now joined Rhapsody, and its a real contender to itunes (with its own "itunes" program etc)
So Rhapsody would maybe be the preffered one
Napster is built into VDJ, and with account there, you can download directly in VDJ

Any music sold on iTunes since June 2009 has been DRM free. Not sure about videos though.

videos too..
Also do a check on the Itunes store. I think I read that anyone who purchased a DRM Itunes song was allowed to ask for an update to the higher bitrate and DRM free version.
I dont think it was heavily publicized, but their was an option of it in Canada.

You can for $.30 US a track. The link in on the store home page, under quick links, called iTunes Plus.
You can do it track by track or in one lump sum.
