Sujet: Voice Overs....

Whats going on everyone,
Summer is rapidly approaching and I am in the process of sending out some mixed cd's trying to land a summer gig at the beach. Does anyone here know of anyone that does some voice over work? I just need my dj name as well as my company name done so I can put them on my cd. Hopefully this will impress the managers at the clubs/bars. If not, anyone know of any software that is capable of doing this. Thanks for your help!!

go to the radio forum one of the guys there has a post up, and he is doing one offs for free...
 
Tayla, I emailed him and he never emailed me back. I was hoping someone else here did it as well.
 
Ryan, call up local radio stations on the weekends. Listen for voices you like then give them a ring and ask the weekend DJ to do it for you. Often these people are looking for something to add to their demo reels, so they will do it for either free, or very cheap.

good luck getting the phone to ring. thanks to voicetracking (pre-recording announcing to make it sound live when no one is really there) and automation most stations have ghosts on the weekends with the phones on hold!

If you can't get thru on the weekends try calling the business office during the week asking who the program director is and ask to speak to that person. Come to think of it you might have more luck asking for the production director.
 
if you're trying to get a gig dj'ing they aren't always going to want to hear some other guy promo'ing you - use your own voice to do a voice over so that they know what you're gonna sound like if you have to use their microphone.

as far as software to use to do this with - your computer has basic stuff built in to record flat voice, but if you need voice editing software there are many out there that can handle things like that. it just depends on how much you want to spend. the two i use the most are sound forge and adobe audition. the first is fairly simple, the second not so simple but much more capable.
 
im using the vocoder function on production software to add and more robotic sound to the parts of my mix where i name drop

the sound I am really looking for is a digital voice over. I usually just record my own drops but those get kind of boring.. Just want to do something unique for my mixes...
