The only ones I take part in are in the UK I wouldn't know about the US but I would of thought that there would be more than we have here.

PS, it's putting your money were your mouth is! I totally agree with it. A lot of them won't ever enter anything like this.
 
like charlie wilson said most of these probably take place in the uk but if u check dj tutor.com they have some competitions and there is a contest they have every month called the ten minute mix which is exactly what it says but it takes place on you tube so you have to record a video of your mixing for ten minutes but you can check it out,it cant hurt
