The existing ripper does not show/contain the meta data info from CD's in VDJ. All you get is Track 1, Track 2...
The free version of Musicmatch is a good sample of how the ripper should be, it would be a nice one stop shop if VDJ could rip with CDinfo too.

Why not. But I believe that Ripper was mainly intended for recording Vinyl records.
There exist many more powerfull applications for ripping CDs, why don't you use them?

The included vinyl rip is designed and does very good job with vinyls.
For cd's I suggest the Audiograbber 1.83 FREE (yes its free) with the also free and powerfull Lame encoder.
Do a google search for this.
