i like the shovel and lime procedure especially for bar owners ........
just start talking about more money everytime they open there big bazoo and after awhile the stupid questions and requests and cheapouts go away .......

You just have to look at the situation and see if it makes sense for you in the long run.
For most owners my price is my price, if they want me to come in earlier for a special party I will charge most of them for the extra time or maybe get a bigger tab for me and my friends. Later is never a problem since I am usually always booked until close anyway.
There have been from time to time those special clubs that have taken very good care of me both financially and in other benefits that I will occassionally do the favor of a few extra hours or do a charity event for reduced, but only becasue it is a "one hand washes the other" situation. I.E. they earned my respect and a few favors over a long relationship so I reciprocate gladly....but those bars are very few and far between.

Unfortunatley I have seen a real increase in the old scam in london of , "We saw your work online and wondered if you would do a night for us for free as a test out and if we like you you will be hired"
There seems to be a new DJ in some places every night because ofcourse while they can get free people in why pay any one.
