guys how do i find which type my usb ports are i have a dell inspirion laptop

Are you saying you wish to know if they are 2.0 or different?
 
yes mate just need to know if im using thr proper usb for my rmx external ect
 
Consult the packaging or the manufacturer, or give us the model.

However, usually, if you plug in a 2.0 compliant device into a 1.0 port you'll get a message saying that "device could work faster" or something to that extent.
 
cheers guys.never get that message so should be ok.
 
My desktop has 4 years and it already has got USB 2.0.
If your system it's younger, I am sure it has only 2.0 USB ports.
 
yeh it has mate.just so much being said bout power comsnumption ect which i know nothing about just wanted to make sure i was connecting properly
