Sujet: usb 1.1 and virtual DJ

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

hi

I have been using atomix for a while and its greatand works fine. But I have decided to get virtual dj for my aging laptop. It only has usb1.1.
It's a compay 1hjx p3 with 512 mbram. Its quite fast for the age of it. It's running XP pro

I was after an extra sound card as I want to be able to listen to the other deck for mixes etc. I was going to use the onboard sound and add an extra USB sound card for headphone output.

I was advised that USB1.1 may be too slow and to update the laptop. Unfortunately I cant do this at the moment.
I was also advise that a PCMCIA card may be better as it will be faster and lower latency that a USB interface.
The other idea I had was getting a Maya 44, 4 in/out card and running main audio out and headphone from this

Any other ideas or help would be most appreciated.

What does VDJ have to do with USB? The program does not care but your sound card may. Your biggest problem is your processor and memory. If you can get some more memory into your laptop it would help.

For the first couple years when we went to PC we had the same problem... I ran VDJ with the internal card as my master a soundblaster USB sound card for my headphone cue.

NOTE we were not using VDJ to mix just to play tracks.

I wouldnt suggest mixing or using too many features with your configuration.

You could get a PCM... for USB 2.0 card but geez for a couple hundred bucks you would be able to find a new laptop with better specs.

many thanks for the find. I will invest in one of those, if doesn't work I may just invest in a new laptop
