For the guitar hero's and DJs alike

have you checked out this game: DJ Hero

wikipedia it---------------

thoughts?

it seems to me like this may bring a rapid influx of wannabe djs; much like guitar hero has boosted sales of actual guitars

great... i dont like the idea.

ima kill the game when it comes out though :)

the game sounds fun

if its anything like guitar hero there will mos def be some newcomers to the industry

entry to market is somewhat muddled by the initial capital needed for a setup though

oh, , , and we have to wait for activision to wait out its current lawsuit concerning DJ Hero

I can see it easily taking away shifts for the Sunday thru Thursday night Djs as bars now looking even harder for any edge to draw customers on those "off" nights in a down economy......just as the "IPOD" dj nights have done in many bars. Anything the cheap bar owners can do think they don't need to pay for professional Djs or bands for music.

Remember Karaoke was only supposed to be a "fad" in the early 90's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is 2 different versions of it coming out and I think Numark is helping one of the companies. Activision who is one of them, which is getting sued I think, and another company that I can't remember the name of, wish I could remember where I saw the article at.

I'm looking forward to checking it out. Who knows, maybe I'll even learn how to scratch! lol

Even if the bars do pick it up, and I hope they do, they'll need someone to run the sh*t just like Guitar Hero.

just bought it its pretty cool. and know it wony take any sunday gigs lol

VDJ + Hercules created millions of wannabe DJ's, or at least filled the gap and made it cheap and easy to DJ...

It is indeed a difficult time to prove your "worth" as a DJ.., too many jack asses do it for FREE or beer now, and if you're 18 and all your friends/girl friends hang out at a venue, why not?

Venues are closing down, DJ's are losing their jobs, those just surviving ARE cutting all the corners they can, the DJ is the first to go..., at least the well paid DJ.

Ipods, games, jam nights etc are filling the gap, meaning now that entry level entertainment doesn't start at your cheap laptop DJ.

I wonder if the game is going to make you listen to all the annoying request for the Cha Cha Slide and the Cupid Shuffle every several minutes until you end up playing them... that would make it realistic.

I like the idea. I actually thought of the samething around the time the arcade scene was hot. As far as the influx of wannabeez, it is. But us as the ones who put in work for however long, we know "only the strong survive". You can have all the hits and chart toppers, and still bomb out. If you are a natural you might hang in there. Phazes or fads WILL fade to black. "Just cause you put suryp on it, don't make the sh$t pancakes". But i think its cool. I think i might try it for kix.

There's a guy on craigslist advertising DJ'ing at your party for $75 - except his equipment is DJ Hero. Provide your own speakers and TV of course. The Numark game may be cooler although it's a shame none of these rhythm based games have an intelligent way to load your own music, except AudioSurf, that one's well worth the £5 or whatever it retails for on Steam these days.

Thats not cool ={

Unfortunately not, the original advert has been flagged for removal but his other one still works: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/evs/1442240981.html

I get a kick out of his "state of the art equipment" and contact me for a complete list of the "93 possible blends available".....by the way, did I miss something, when did beatmixing become known as a "blend"? Blend is what I do with my milk and ice cream to get a milkshake and the noise that blender makes when spinning is about the way most beat mixes sound from 90% of the Djs around these parts these days.

...uuuhhhh... I think I'll stick to FPS games. I have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 preordered, that's what I'll be playing for the next few months. DJ Hero is a cool kids thing or for guys who just want to mess around but aren't serious about being a REAL DJ, kind of like myself playing shooter games but I'm not serious about shooting REAL people..!

...Well if I was serious about it, I wouldn't tell you!!

Keep Shootin'... er, Spinnin'!!

I think dj hero is a good game, it drives attention to dj scene and djs itself. Actually many people who think that dj is merely living jukebox will see new aspects to djiing: it's about mixing, scratching etc not just choosing songs. I think real djs will get now more respect than they used to.

Me too, perhaps we should all exchange gamer tags and start a "VDJ" clan, or just battle amongst ourselves..

I have modern warefare, COD5 and will get the new one as soon as it's out...

I've considered getting the thing just to create a definition for VDJ and use it as a fun joke controller. but for the price I'll wait until it dies down.

I think this game could get lost in the hype when COD 4 2 comes out, the tiny place I'm from has over 300 per-orders.
