no problem rob, i try to steer clear of xvid's as they could have been encoded as anything with an xvid tag - i usually convert everything to .mov using QuicktimePro on my Mac.

Did you have mencoder.exe in the same directory as fix.bat, they need to be in a directory together, also make sure this directory does not have any spaces in the filepath, e.g. c:\users\public\documents\mencoder
If those conditions are met and you're dragging an avi file into fix.bat it should only take a few seconds to process a video. However, unless your videos are currently in use by another program or in a restricted directory like program files UAC shouldn't have come up.

It still not work.
I have mencoder in my documents with no spaces and the video file i am trying out are in the windows standard music folder.
When i drag video to fix.bat i get the windows vista box saying "the publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software"
So i click run and it looks like a little dos windows pops up really quick then goes.
But i dont have know file output renamed fix.
Thanks

Try changing back to internal video decoder, if the problem is the same as the September video, this got it working for me.

Thanks you so much.
Just out of inertrest what does mencode actually do.
I have noticed it has changed the bitrate within the properties but is that all it does.
Thanks

Mencoder is a video encoding tool, you can use it to split/merge and transcode videos, e.g. convert from xvid to dvd - it supports just about every format you can imagine (with no external dependencies). The method used in my script is the simplest way to use mencoder, it simply makes an exact copy of the video and audio in the original file and outputs it to a new file - the only difference being that bad frames are removed and metadata is excluded, this may be why the bitrate is appearing smaller.

I am still having a few problems.
Just been throwing a few vidoes together the ones that i have fixed but i still get freeze ups in the videos now and again.
Mainly when i am skipping through video to find a cue point and every now and again on when i load videos into decks.
It is not as often as before but now when it happerns it makes everything go slow even when i exit vdj my computer is running really slow for about a minute then it ok.
Thanks

This one's more tricky and I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. Any freezes you get may be a combination of two things, partially your system but mainly the way the video has been encoded. I had a look at it and the streams appear to be ok and I could reproduce freezes of a couple of hundred milliseconds by seeking through random positions in the other deck; this might be due to something called motion search precision in the xvid codec - higher values allow you to jump to points seamlessly with little work for the processor, this video has probably been encoded with a low value. If Virtual DJ is using one thread for playback of both turntables then this could be a cause. However this is just a guess, it could be wrong.
Strangely the video plays ok in my preferred video playback software although when using the same codec with Virtual DJ the video severely lags behind, also when trying to mux it in an mkv the video disappears altogether and the sound becomes distorted.
You can transcode the video portion (which will lose quality) to recreate a new working stream. But I don't think there's an easy way to get these working.

Ok just to let you know i have solved the problem.
Since i have had vista on my computer i have had several problems with virtual dj.
So i was cruious.
I have put windows xp back on my computer this morning and guess what the xvid videos are playing fine i did around a hour mix with no freeze ups or any problems at all.
I think i will stick with xp now until microsoft make a new decent version of windows or virtual dj can correct these issues.
From my experience i would not recomend virtual dj to any one with a vista based machine.
Thanks for all your help andrew.

Rob just an FYI:
I have two Machines running Vista which I use (4) nights a week (5) hours a night. My last serious crash was in 2008 while I was still running XP. I can understand your frustration but it appears the biggest issue here has been the XVID videos, why XP would handle them better is a mystery to me. I would only suggest in the future try and use good quality videos that have not been recoded by someone else OR use ones you encode yourself if you must do it to save space.
Andrew, you have the patience of a God. :^)
