Sujet: Please Tell Me Why I Should Download Version 6 - Page: 1

Cette partie de ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes

Last week I bought VDJ Pro. 5 something, I don't see the Model # on the Order Forms.

I am getting used to it and think I can do all I want from the recommended skin. I want only to stay on that skin and use only one folder and do all the controls from there for DJ and personal singing with tracks.
I would like for the Key Changing and Tempo Changing to be done there by clicking rather than working with a slider and jog.

Having said that, is there any reason for me to go to Version 6?

Thanks, DH

no if you are fine stay were you are (never change a running system)
but if you will participate on new features etc. just change
so if you played only one week with 5.2.1 you loose nearly nothing when you change
its up to you
best regards

Why not have both versions installed? Play with 6.0 but use your current version out.., after some time you might decide to "switch" to 6.0 once you're confident with it.

if youre only using vdj to play backing track, with the occasonal key change then there is no real need to upgrade.

but i think the main advantage of upgrading your vdj is the bug fixes.
i know vdj5xx had a random bug with the search system, sometimes clicking there wouls make vdj dissapear from memory (!!?!)

and as yove only had vdj or a short time, it wouldnt hurt to upgrade, then you can still use the vdj5 skin if you like, (or the original skins too)

From my own experience, I see no need to upgrade. VirtualDJ still does not have a stutter cue option which is something I am big on. Searching the database can still be improved. For example, if you type both the track and artist in the search box, you won't find anything, unless you use * in between. I also see no changes to the automix features. For example, if you load a playlist, shuffle it, but then sort by title or artist, you cannot sort back to your original playlist order. I did like the fact they made the pitch slider bigger for us keyboard and mouse users.

It is my understanding that 6.0 was designed more for the external controller and vinyl timecode users. I am not such a user, nor do I use video. I am probably in the minority of keyboard mouse users anyway.

Why don't you get a controller?

Perhaps a licenced copy would be a good idea. Slightly ironic username dont you think.

lmfao

Just clear the playlist, and load it again the same way you did the first time. But, I wouldn't expect you to know that.

This guy has been around since last year complaining that VirtualDJ doesn't have a stutter cue option. If it was implemented, I'm sure he would find another reason to not buy it.

Perhaps he should use one of the vast other choices that implement the crappy stutter cue. Oh wait...

What behaviour do you want to emulate? Vdjscript is pretty impressive.

Remeber the cueing effect on CD players whereby it used to repeatedly stutter the current frame when moving the jog, rather than a vinyl style cueing?

Thats what he wants :-/

Was the original playlist in title or artist order? If not, your statement makes no sense since sorting by those criteria are not the original criteria.

What you could do is reload the playlist - or since it's a playlist, you could leave it as it's supposed to be - a playlist. I'm not particularly experienced with that part of the program though since I don't use the playlist or automix functions...

easy fix for that one.. I do it all the time..

load your playlist then save it..
if you sort it or make any changes you can then save it with a new name or the old one..
if you want to go back to your original list, then delete all the songs from the play list, and then reload it from the saved playlist folders..

Why don't you check your facts before making such false presumptions on a public forum like this. I already explained under another topic. You can ask Charlie, but that probably won't do any good because he doesn't believe me anyway.

I am sensing disrespect ("just a little bit, just a little bit") and impoliteness in this forum. Isn't that a violation of the rules here?

Maybe you all would like to step outside, so I can out "Cha Cha Slide" you, and "Hoedown Throwdown" your butts all the way home, where you can pretend to entertain a crowd in front of a mirror with a "Twist", "Hand Jive", "Hustle", or even the "Helen Keller", and then you can "Shout" or "Dollar Wine" about the fact that is all you will ever earn doing Bingo charity events. You will then end up doing the "Bus Stop" at bus stops begging for money like the Bride and Groom do during the "Dollar Dance" at the weddings I perform at.

OK I'm done. I think I need to blow off some steam at my local "YMCA" and then enjoy some good "Chicken Noodle Soup" with "Coke or Pepsi" on the side.

Yes it is, I will take this opportunity to remind everyone here, be polite and respectful to EVERYONE. If you are not able to say something nice, please refrain from saying anything at all.

I was going to tell this guy I didn't like his face, but then I realised that I haven't seen his face and it would be against forum rules even if I was to ignore this minor detail.

Just kidding, but we need what Barack Obama chimes on about: "change", we must change our attitude towards those who don't own a license even if we secretly hate them, I haven't spoken to my brother in 5 years because he wont buy a license and I urge all like minded people to follow my lead, together WE CAN!

Strongly suggest getting back on topic ...

To close the other stated comments ...

NO Stutter CUE is not available in v6 and no it can not be emulated using the VDJScripting.

Disrespect, whether licensed user or not - whether using words or pictures -- not tolerated

Playlists - yes there is no 'order' saving of the entries ... but maybe an additional feature in the future.

Now back on topic -- Why you should download Version 6 --

If you were experiencing issues with V5, V6 offers several fixes.
If you are using a controller that was not previously supported, V6 offers an almost unlimited level of support for MIDI and HID controllers.
If you are a Video DJ, V6 adds several additional internally supported formats than v5
If you are just looking to have more fun and an overall better experience because you want to do more - Upgrade to V6.

I could list more reasons ... but that is done here -- http://www.virtualdj.com/products/virtualdj/version6.html

For the record, I state once again that I use a licensed copy of Version 5 on a computer owned by the company I work for. I don't own the program itself, so that is why I am not registered as a licensed user. It seems this "No License User" designation on these forums ought to be changed to "Non-Registered User". In fact, the identification of forum members based upon their class of user designation should be rid of completely because it may unfairly imply that participants in the forums may not be licensed users, when, in fact, they are using the program legally. It also results in a form of discrimination against users who are lower on the totem pole than VIP Users, Professional Edition Users, Experienced Pro Users, etc. It should make no difference when the purpose of the forum is to share ideas, good or bad, about the program. So if I am a "No License User", do I deserve less advice than somebody who is an "Experienced Pro User"? This is not how such a public community board should operate.
