well I guess you could say that, I haven't DJ'd in almost 10 years and all this digital stuff is giving me a headache (check my post in the C3USB mixer thread). I just got back into DJing over the last say 3 or 4 months and all I can say is GOD I MISSED THIS SO MUCH, lol. If anyone can help me with my problem (mentioned previously) that would be great. Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome back. You'll get used to it. Once you are used to it, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner, trust me.... ;-)

yeah, I already kinda got the hang of it as far as CD and everything goes (I'm used to vinyl and sold all my old gear so had to start back up and figured why not go CD). But I got tired of lugging around so many CD's I make the local CD store jealous, lol. So, I decided to go digital. My laptop already was far above what I would need, and I got a C3USB mixer in place of a 200FX mixer (they were out of stock and offered to upgrade at no extra charge) so I figured why not. Well I got the DMC2 today actually, came with the Cue LE software (4.3 R13) and well......its giving me nothing but headaches, lol. It doesn't offer the external mixer option, I upgraded to 5.x.x and now not only do I lose my video settings (it puts me in the basic control skin) but it also won't open any of my music or CDG files. If I could get that worked out I would be the happiest person on the planet...for about 5 min. Till I find something else to screw up. All I know is that it is crazy hot in my garage right now (where I set everything up so its not INSANELY loud cause I have more room for the sound) and I am all out of tylenol, lol. Anyways, thanks for the welcome, I am glad to be here.

Remember, the mixer your using is not a midi mixer. Set the crossfader in the middle, then disable it in "Options". The crossfader on the skin will not move, but you will accomplish what your looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it, but it still didn't work like I was hoping. What I meant is in the sound options, it won't let me set to external mixer then dual USB sound cards so I can use just the crossfader on the mixer. And if I upgrade to Cue 5.x.x LE it won't even play my files at all. Any other suggestions? Again, thanks for that suggestion though.

Welcome back to world of DJing!! Your story sounds like mine. I left DJing back in 1997 and just came back in Dec 2008. I went and bought a Total Control and it was good but I wanted more so in Feb I bought the DMC2 and the C3USB like what you have. Then I really wanted to go for the gusto and bought an all Pioneer setup, two CDJ-400s and a DJM-800 mixer in April.
I still use my Numark gear as a secondary system. I have both the full version of CUE and VDJ. Are you still having problems with your gear? Mine works flawlessly with VDJ. If you want to upgrade you can get the full version at a discount since you own the LE version. It's worth it. You will be able to play music videos and karaoke and a ton of other effects, samples and more.

yeah, I am still having the same problems, since it won't let me set the sound to "external mixer" it reading one usb as a master and the second as headphones. everytime I put a song in the left side (blue side) it cuts all sound out and I have to hit play on the left one, scratch the right one back a tad and it goes back to playing in the right channel. just how much of a discount are we talking cause I don't exactly have that much to spend right now honestly. like what would the total price be to upgrade to full? cause like I said, when I upgrade to the 5.x.x LE it doesn't play ANYTHING! and its rather annoying cause I want to use my mixer without having to fight with the program, lol. right now its winning, lol. thanks for the help.

also, how much different is VirtualDJ vs. CUE? I know they are essentially the same program, but are there any differences? I was just curious. Thanks again.

Hi Mate.
You may think your going nuts but I can assure you this is not the case.
The version of Cue that came with your DMC-2 is a limited function version which will not let you operate with an external mixer. The upgrade you have done only updates the version of Cue LE that you have. To get the full functionality of the software an upgrade to VDJ Pro or the full Pro version of Cue is required. My personal recomendation would be to upgrade to the VDJ version, if for no other reason because the updates tend to become available faster.
Welcome back to DJing

thanks man, and thanks for the welcome. I don't even really care about the full functionality of the software at the moment. I just want to be able to set my sound settings to "external mixer" so I can use my mixer and not fight with the program at the same time. I just need one gig and I can get the upgrade (which I have a gig this weekend for my friend's parents or aunt or something of such nature) and with the upgrade it doesn't even show my music files at all. I select the folder the music is in and it doesn't show any songs in it. I did run the 20 day trial of CUE off of Numark's website and ran it out before I purchased this, could that have something to do with it? Like I said, all I want is for 5.x.x LE to work PERIOD. I got another program I can use temporarily for karaoke till I can get the upgrade, but as far as music is concerned I NEED THIS, lol. any ideas on why its not reading my music files? again, thanks for the welcome and thanks for the help.

I am assuming that your music files are still playable with other software ie Widows media player. Is the folder you are refering to one that was generated by the previous version of Cue ie a playlist?

they are still playable, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the disk (4.3) and they worked fine. They are folders/files saved not only on my external hard drive, but my internal as well. Anything having to do with music (regular and karaoke) it shows the folder its in, but doesn't show the music when I select the folder. but it only does it when I upgrade to 5.x.x LE, 4.3 is fine (except for the mixer issue of course, lol).

My suggestion at this point would be to download the update again an re-install. If that does not cure your file issues you could always download the 20 day trial version of VDJ Pro (this version will work with no limitations for 20 days) and then pay for your registration after the weekend gig.

I just tried that to no avail, however I have filed a support ticket to see if maybe they can come up with something, lol. Any idea how long that usually takes? Not that I am impatient or anything, lol, I just want to get some practice time with this stuff I have never really used before. Thanks for the help anyway though.

have you selected to show files... go to browser to the right of search bar > select right bullseye > in drop down window select which files you want showing ie music, karaoke etc... hope that is the problem you have
Posté Tue 16 Jun 09 @ 8:34 am
thanks for the suggestion, still nothing. I still haven't heard anything on my ticket I filed either, that was over 14hrs ago. I really hope I get this working soon. Thanks for all the help guys, keep the suggestions coming, lol.

Fuskit, set "External Mixer", set to "Two Cards" and then in the drop down at the right choose USB 1 and USB 2, but they might be labeled 5 and 6 or even 12 and 13, as long as there is two seperate numbers corresponding to "USB #".

In 4.3 doesn't give me the option to do that. It does in 5.2.x, but 5.2 won't show my music files. I don't know if the fact that I used a free trial before I ever purchased the DMC2 and LE to see if I wanted to go with CUE or something else has something to do with it and it has a hidden file on my HDD or something keeping me from using it or what. I am in 4.3 right now till my ticket gets answered, but it sucks not being able to preview and mix like I am used to. Thanks for the suggestion though, I need all the help I can get right now, lol, I got 2 gigs this weekend now (one friday that I knew about and one saturday now that another friend set up for me). And I really need 5.2 to work by then. I have tried doing a search and deleting anything with CUE or Virtual or Numark attached to it and that still didn't help. Is there a patch or something I don't know about? Thanks again everyone for all your help, if you can think of anything else to try, please let me know.

Hello,
Any LIMITED version WOULDN'T let you use and external mixer with separate dual decks in each mixer channel. If you want to do that, then you need an upgrade to VirtualDJ Pro.
You could ONLY use ONE 4.0 soundcard (or better) with your Limited Version of CUE (LE=Limited Edition). That sound card only let you to use 1&2 outputs (or FRONT Speaker OUT) from your soundcard to play MASTER and 3&4 outputs (REAR Speaker OUT) of your sound card to play HEADPHONES. You could use a Mixer (a normal one) to act as a preamplifier and have Channel one of the MIXER with MASTER input of VirtualDJ and Channel two of the mixer with HEADPHONES signal on it. Then you could listen louder the music on that way, but it's the only way to use an external mixer with a LE version.

thanks, any idea why when I update to 5.2.1 why it won't show my music files? it shows the folders but not the files in them (music). 4.3 shows them (I am using it as I type this actually, playing with my DMC2) but when I update to 5.2.x I can't play any music at all. thanks for the help.
