Config -> Video. Change the Output to your secondary device. You also need to make sure you 'extend' the windows desktop rather than duplicate it.

What do you mean by secondary device, I only have my laptop, RMX console and external monitor hooked up to the laptop VGA output. I am a little confused, forgive my ignorance.

one thing to remember is to have the external monitor hooked up BEFORE you turn on the laptop. If you don't it won't read it. Then go in and set the video to secondary device and EXTEND desktop. if you don't extend it as opposed to duplicating it, what you see on your laptop will be what everyone sees on the monitor. but it will get confusing the first couple of times you use it, cause your mouse will not stop at the right side of the screen on your laptop anymore, lol. It will just keep going to the other screen so you gotta watch it.

When you say extend you mean to extend the external monitor small video window only? How do I get the mouse over their.

turn off your laptop completely, full shutdown. then hook up the external monitor. then power up the laptop. It should now be able to read the second monitor, go into your video settings on your laptop, if you have ATi graphics I can tell you how to do it with ACC cause both my production/gaming desktop and my laptop have ATi graphics with the ATi catalyst control center on them. But either way it should be pretty simple to find in your display settings (even in the windows display settings). you will see two boxes, one with a 1 and one with a 2. The one with 2 in it will be fuzzy looking while the other is clearly visible. click the drop down menu, select the second option (you should probably only have two) and the second will become unfuzzy. then check off extend my desktop to this monitor, and click OK or Apply then OK (I usually do apply then ok just to make sure) and then your mouse will be able to go from one monitor to the other by way of the right side of your laptop's monitor. then I believe you just have to set your video settings to w/e they are in CUE/VDJ (not really sure only messed with it in the trial version, hopefully someone else can fill you in there). I hope that was helpful. if you have any more questions just ask.

You the man Fuskit, thank you very much I got it going, had to also do a add hardware scan so video card can be found for dual monitor graphics and then it appeared in the config video settings drop down window. I appreciate you taking the time.

by the way, forgot to mention this earlier (just in case you don't know) every time you want to hook up the external monitor, your laptop HAS TO BE OFF before you plug it in and turned on after it is plugged in. otherwise it won't acknowledge the external monitor.

I don't know about your laptop but I never have to do that. I just flip it on, the laptop blanks out momentarily and then BANG, they're both on, no problems at all. Then I drag the small VDJ video window over to the big LCD and then spread it out by grabbing the edges and pulling them with the mouse. My question is...Why do I have to do that everytime? Is there a way to get it to maximize without going through this everytime? It's rather annoying.

if I remember right, when I was messing around with my free trial before I got my DMC2, there is a setting in the video config menu that lets you go full screen, but I am not 100% on that. maybe check and see (if you haven't that is).

P.S. about 95% of all laptops I have dealt with had that problem. so just to play it safe I would suggest doing it that way. but if yours works without that PITA process, you are one of the lucky ones, lol.

I recently figured this one out because I was tired of doing the stretching thing. In your video settings make sure you choose extend my desktop. Open VDJ go to config. Open video tab. Make sure the top button says enabled. I have everything checked except link video when dropped on preview window. The key is TV Output - click the drop down menu and select your video card (not Window). This did it for me. Now that VDJ window disappears on the main screen and opens on the larger crowd screen all on it's own full size. Let me know how it works.

Some type of cards like ATI may allow users to connect an external/secondary monitor ... while the laptop/computer is still on
for some other cards like NVIDIA.... sometimes users must connect external monitors before turning on laptop
So it really depends on the type of card you have - for some reason all ATI cards I have owned in the past allowed me to just connect at anytime whether laptop/computer is on or off.
I have now gone over to NVIDIA type cards and have found out that - I have to connect the external/secondary monitor before i actually turn laptop/computer on for it to actually pick up.
Is this so with the rest of you NVIDIA card users??
