Oh no, don't tell me you're one of those people...Can't stand to see the wholesome young white blonde Country star in a "dirty" Rap video? When are some people going to wake up and realize that things aren't like they were 30, 40, 50 years ago? For the most part the younger generations don't see things like the older ones so it's not unusual for people from all walks to hang around with each other and comingle. I’m a Gen Xer and we were far more tolerant that the Boomers who are a little more so than the so called "Greatest" generation who were pretty rife with hate.
I know because I was adopted by a California transplanted mid-western World War II era couple who raised me to “forget” about having Arabic heritage because “you look white enough and don’t want problems” lol. When we moved to racially diverse area in Southern California and I was forbidden to have black friends and got put on “restriction” when I was 14 for bringing home a N*****! First off, he was from Sri Lanka! Secondly, even though they tried to raise me like them I could never think like them even with the life beaten out of me (and they practically did). And no, it wasn’t because they tried to force me to be white, they hid my true heritage from me until I found out at the age of 26 when my real mother looked me up and found me. When I confronted my adopted mother, that’s when she told me what I mentioned above.

I’ve been in trouble with the law when I was younger for hate bashing (bashing prejudiced people or “haters”) and Confederate flag napping from people who flew them out of hate and rebelliousness against minorities. I became an L.A. County Sheriff in the late 80’s but quit due to rampant prejudice, which later the whole dept. and LAPD was overhauled in the wake of the Rodney King beating and subsequent riots.

Don’t get me wrong I hate reverse discrimination just as much. Look at Don Imus and his comments, and also George Costanza from Seinfeld fame. While I don’t agree with what they said, black commentators, comedians and TV shows do it all of the time unchallenged. They constantly portray white people as dumb, un-hip, nerds or red-necks. If those stereotypes were used in a white TV show there would be an outrage. I was at a black comedian special in Hollywood about 12 years ago and Mark Curry from Hangin’ with Mister Cooper TV show was drunk onstage and people were booing him, so he started on this group of white people with the worst racial slurs anyone could ever say. He even started cussing out a “slanty eyed chink”. Everyone was furious!!! He was booed off the stage and security even had to remove him. I thought sure such a high profile African-American star would have been called out for his actions and even on the news. But it never happened and he never apologized. If that would’ve been a white comedian, there would’ve been a lynching or public neutering!!

There is definitely a double standard.

I know it will persist and it will probably never end but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Sorry for the rant. These things just PISS me off.

Come on Rude, I don't think Wild's comment was based on race. I think it was based on the song being real bad. Not just sort of bad, but full on bad.

Rude honey do you need a Valium?

Uh, hmmm, well actually yes! But I need it now and you're in Florida right? Damn...Is there such thing as "Virtual Valium"??!!

one virtual valium comin' right up!

take one and enjoy!

and no, it wasnt about race, color, in-breeding, anti-rap, anti-country, or even anit-anti.

it was about humor.

it was about the off the wall combination of miss goody-two-shoes Taylor Swift ( i can't wait for her "brittany spears" career meltdown/crash!) and t-pain's lack of singing talent that he's parlayed into a truck-full of cash to the ignorant masses by being a "sensitive thug". it was no different than when MTV paired Busta Rhymes with Martha Stewart on stage. they did it for shock value. go to the cmt link and watch the entire show opener clip and you'll understand it abit more.

racist? i grew up as the grain of salt in the pepper shaker, give me james brown or smokey robinson any day over van hagar or the beach boys.
racist? my ex-wife's maiden name is Zambrano and i met her while i was living in McAllen TX, and we had two daughters who take after their mom - curvy with dark doe-eyes and curly black hair and yes i do keep a shotgun in the closet so to speak.
racist? we get every single ethnic make-up under the sun in our club and the only group we dont like is the ones that dont have green in their wallets and we still give them the best show we can. even the trailer trash inbred confederate flag wavin' dip chewin' wife beatin' NASCAR watchin' idiots that i have come to know and loathe over the years.

now i gotta go take my own advice and take my virtual valium

and yes viacom keeps taking down the link to the youtube vid.
oh yeah.. have a nice day.

Well this could start a whole new debate.

Which would be better.

Virtual Valium or Prozaktor.

Turn the TV to soothing image No 32 and say after me "Every day, in every way, I am feeling better and better"

Even better :-)

Hey DJRudeDoGG, you need a trip across the pond to put things into perspective ;-). All you need is a bit of craic to put things into perspective ;-)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crack_(craic)

PS. Wiki doesn't do it justice! Needs to be experienced!
PPS. Not on commission from the Irish Tourist Board!
PPS+(?!). Offer open to all who need craic, not just DJRudeDoGG :-)

noooo!! i cant see the VIDEO!!! :(!!!

WOW . . . Ice Ice Baby!!!! Yep that was a "Thug Story" as well!!!! :/

when is everybody going to quit playing the race card....what ever happened to personal choice, personal freedom and personal preference.

If you go through life wanting to find racism you will my friend. People can like or dislike something for many different reasons other than race...grow up, get a pair and stop feeling sorry for yourself because you're not proud of who you are, because that is what it sounds like when someone always pulls out the race card.

People can dislike rap simply because in their opinion it is a horrible music form and has nothing to do with the race of the artist....A LOT of white people hate country but you don't call them racist do you? So why when someone hates rap everyone assumes it is because of race...no it is because in some people's opinion it simply stinks PERIOD!

At least during the "boomer" days you knew who was racist and who wasn't because they were allowed to express their genuine dislikes whatever the reasons. In today's society there are probably more racist people then ever but you can't tell because of political correctness (which in and of itself breeds hatred of others as being "protected" and "priveleged"). In our PC society everybody has to PRETEND to like everything and everybody...personally I would rather know someone hates me than to smile in my face and stab me in the back.

all I know is I want T-Pain's big ass chain in that video just cause it says "BIG ASS CHAIN" on it, lol.

I totally agree with TearEmUp. I doubt that this is about race... well maybe it is.. who gives a #%#%#%

Believe it or not this video just plain sucks...totally sucks....TOTALLY SUCKS... GODDAMN AWFUL..
Honestly hopes Taylor did this video just for humour only... and not a serious single....ROTFLMAO
Definitely must be for humour.....If this is what Taylor Swift was attempting.. then she failed miserably... and if not.... then it is absolutely terrible.

I don't agree with you here...... this has no shock value.....ABSOLUTELY none..... just terrible.. terrible...song SUCKS period.. well it is shocking...LMAO.. that they would actually go make a video for this.. What a waste of money.

Weird Al... .was great.. not in everything.. but compared to this he was first class.

guess everybody wants to be Weird All Yankovic
His was a way better representation and was doing it for the laughs. Al's videos were definitely... professional.. and good... and of course he has mad skillz.. .just that he decided that humour was his way....

this is weird al at his best

okay, i give up. thought it was funny, thought i'd throw it in on here to give folks a little comic relief from all the "new version blues".

let's put this one to bed and go back to being way too serious.

'nuff said.

I heard that.

It was just funny, daft for a giggle and all that.

Turn on tune in and drop out!

Thanks mate.

I think Taylor Swift rapping about baking cookies and knitting sweaters, with the help of T-Pain, is pretty damn funny. It was a spoof made for an award show, not meant to make a statement about race or anything else. Wasn't even really meant to be good. It's funny, I enjoyed it, thats all I need to know.

I saw this live when it was aired and I thought the video was pretty funny. Later in the show you were subjected to real pain when Taylor Swift sang. This girl is cute as a button but her live vocal performaces are always terrible.

If she sang like that in the shower the water would go back up the spout to get AWAY.
