A dedicated Video/KJ forum would be helpful to those having problems.

There's a lot that goes along to that though that cross's over to other sections. Video card choices for example, also hardware - PC/MAC , Desktop/Notebook, Lots to be taken into consideration that's already being answered on this site.

I will agree however that the search function on this site is horrible.
 

If you aim for the stars the best you can get are stars...but reach the heavens and the stars are an added bonus.

OK, well the new forum request topic has been up there all day, going on 24 hours, 38 hits and 3 user responses including one moderator but not even one response from the Team, so I don't really know what that means. My experience dictates to me it usually doesn't mean anything good.

You shouldn't read so much into it, I'm predicting that there will be a video forum sometime soon.

Trust me guys there is nothing in the experienced user's forum nearly as interesting as the discussions that go on here.....it's pretty boring and PC, nothing controversial, no newbees to help out, just kind of bland sh*t and I have no topics worth posting stuff to play devils advocate and see what kind of responses I can elicite (sorry to dissapoint all of you that think all my posts are my true hard headed opinions, sometimes I just like to make people explore their own opinions and defend their position to see what kind of arguments they bring to the table and how passionate the are).

This is the best thread and I think it is that way because of the diversity of the participanrs and the subjects.

In my opinion when you start getting too many seperate forum topics you start to segregate you participants into niches, clicks and other suedo political organizations....together, unity, all for one and one for all I say!

Just to contradict myself....PLEASE don't lump karaoke and video in one forum. If you are going to start them start them as seperate forums......one is entertainment and one I would like to destroy if it were my world. I only do when money is tight and have no other options to work on a Monday or Tuesday night and I do it with earplugs....I'm sure you can guess which is which!
 
I would like to point my personal thinking about this.

There are many things running now that have the full time of teamers on it... so, right now doing a karaoke or video separate forums, it's not in the firsts places of "to do" things. However, it is not dropped, but take it as a request to cover in one place all questions and answers about those two subjects. It sounds good, but need some clear organization, so it will not be "boring, insipid, and lack of helpful post.

Thank you for the clarification ACW. We are aware that you are all busy and are not in any rush, this is just a petition from a few of us who enjoy helping others out and the few who need the help. At some point there will be time and that is the purpose of this postulation.

I would think that a forum for this purpose would simplify one's understanding of where a karaoke/video specific query could be posted and would likely only be trafficked by members who are familiar with and want to help or simply post an inquiry. As mentioned earlier, there are sporadic posts throughout the forums that either are not seen because of their inconspicuous location or because they are posted somewhere that isn't visited often, as someone mentioned "the thread graveyard" or "black hole". If there were a specific forum implemented then it would be eventually understood that a karaoke or video question could be asked here and then subsequently responded to hopefully with a gainful answer. If a karaoke/video question were erroneously placed elsewhere a moderator would then place it in the respective forum thus creating a familiarity amongst us all that the forum exists and this is the place for these discussions. Simply put, no more wondering "where is the best place to post this question?" for the regular member and no more wondering "why is this question in here?" by the more experienced members, like myself and a few others who pursue these queries. It will not only benefit the benefactor but the assistant alike.

I believe it would be a necessary and positive addition to the community.

Many of those that are busy over there are VDJ users!! Work it out...

OK, from what I'm gathering from the info I've received we may be getting both a karaoke and video forum separate from one another. To me that would be fine. I think the best thing to do is put them in a category together (though independently of one another) like maybe on the "Technical" forum underneath "Hardware" or in a whole new category.

So what do y'all peeps be thinkin'?

im still looking up on what 'insipid' means.. lol

But yes, i'll definately help out with video and karaoke where i can, even if not at moderator level, but technical support is where my ground is.

my experiance looks like this...
Computer support = 17 years
DJing = 15 years
Karaoke = 15 years
Video DJing = 10 years


and im pretty sure there are similar people who could help, too

The whole reason I thought of this and got the ball rolling is because of my experience in this area which is similar to yours...

Computers - 1981
DJing - 1984
Karaoke - 1993
Video DJing - 1986
Computer DJ Software - 1998
Atomix/VDJ - 2001

With our combined experience plus that of the Team and others we shouldn't have any problem tackling any issue that comes up on the forum. Hell, we're doing it now, it's just all over the place and tedious to look for.
